Sebastian. My family's oldest cat. He was born to a previous cat of ours on 5 JAN 1992. He was mischevious when he was young. playfully harassing the other cats and on his first Christmas, he knocked the tree over one night and scattered the ornaments all over the den.
He grew up to be a big kitty. 15 pounds and not at all fat. He was fearful of strangers, but sweet, loving and affectionate with his family
Late Friday evening (4 DEC), he had what appeared to be a stroke. Started with strange yowling, foaming at the mouth and not able to keep water down. Then his tail was fuzzing up for no reason, his eyes did not respond to a light being shined in them and he kept walking in circles, a clear sign of brain damage. Shortly before I left for work, he had a seizure.
He was still alive when I came home much to my amazement. I took him to the vet who said that due to his age, it was probably a stroke or brain tumor. The vet would have had to put him down even if we took advantage of their 24 hour emergency service.
The vet was kind enough to not charge for putting him down
Link to For A Cat by Jumpy Squirrel. He wrote it for his own cat, but for the rest of the weekend, I couldn't even think of this song.
