"Tenía una vida normal (o al menos todo lo normal que nadie puede tener una vida en la República Federal). Rastreador al servicio del Colegio de Hechicería con años de experiencia a sus espaldas, una familia, un lugar al que poder regresar después de un trabajo encargado por el Colegio... tenia su vida. Y estaba contento con ella.
Hasta ese maldito trabajo en el sur.
Todo el mundo tiene un mal día, y desde luego que ése en concreto fue el suyo. Sabía que no iba a ser un arresto fácil (lo tuvo claro desde que tuvo que viajar a otro Estado), pero encontrarse con una bruja pendiente de juicio con muy mala leche, y un odio casi ridículo hacia los varones, era algo que no se esperaba. Y menos se esperó despertar después de que ella le hiciera "algo" en aquel callejón en el que estuvo a punto de cogerla, y descubrir que había cambiado. No él... pero sí su cuerpo.
Verse convertido en una mujer hizo tambalear su vida tal y como la conocía. Su novia, sus compañeros más cercanos y con los que había vivido demasiado como para considerarlos simples amigos... su familia sin sangre, como se dice por ahí. Iba a perderlo todo, absolutamente todo aquello por lo que había luchado con uñas y dientes. Y todo, por una desgraciada.
Sin embargo más pronto que tarde se dará cuenta de que no está tan mal. Sí, ahora es una mujer... pero, contrariamente a su primera impresión, ni se acabaría el mundo, ni moriría, ni nada por el estilo. Al contrario... en esa excedencia obligatoria que el Colegio le obligará a coger descubrirá mucho más de lo que él mismo jamás podría haber llegado a imaginar.
Su novia, Asvrey (quien es una hechicera que se acerca peligrosamente a los límites legales, aunque la verdad es que eso le importa más bien poco), trabaja desde el minuto uno por encontrar una solución a la situación. Pero aunque jamás se le pasó por la cabeza, no la incomoda demasiado (al margen del shock inicial, perfectamente comprensible) el que su "novio" de pronto y sin avisar tenga casi tanto pecho como ella, y su pene se haya volatilizado. Ha visto, hecjo y vivido demasiado como para llevarse las manos a la cabeza por algo así. Y, coml suele decir y dirá a menudo, "Me enamoré de ti. No de tu cuerpo: la Afinidad del Ánima no conoce de cuerpos... aunque debo confesarte que no tenía intención de iniciar una relación lésbica con nadie, qué quieres que te diga". Y a decir verdad... tras la tensión inicial todo se vuelve bastante agradable, y su relación empezará a tomar un camino que si bien es inesperado, puede ser de todo menos una tortura.
Ser una mujer no es nada fácil en la República Federal. Pero con todas las complicaciones, él se empieza a sentir mucho mejor de lo que se había sentido nunca. Poco a poco se irá dando cuenta de que cada vez piensa menos en sí mismo como "él"... y más como "ella". ¿Debido al influjo de la transmutación que sufrió a manos de la bruja que intentó arrestar... o debido a otra cosa? ¿Sentirse así de bien consigo mismo, o misma, se debe a la transmutación... o tal vez haya encontrado el modo de vivir que necesitaba?
Y más importante...
Cuando den con la solución, cuando pueda volver a ser como era antes al encontrar el modo de revertir el hechizo... ¿realmente querrá hacerlo?"
