Anatomy break down of some space bagaboo that I haven't figured out what to call.
This was an assignment from a character design call back in 2016. We had to come up with some sort of creature, then use anatomy charts from real animals to figure out the muscle and skeletal structure. I know its a little blurry, but this is one of the few things I've done that I am 100% happy with. This was hard as hell, but actually kind of fun. so I'll probably do something like this again sometime.
I saw this thing being slightly larger than a coyote and filling a role similar to one, as well; a scavenger/ predator of small prey, but also able to take out larger pray by swarming if they were desperate. To catch burrowed prey, they will use highly corrosive spit to weaken rock, then dig using their dense, pick-like beaks (which are resistant to their own spit, fortunately for them). No sense of smell, but their head tentacles let them feel electrical impulses from muscle moment, similar to sharks. This is problematic for nearby technology, as they will sometimes mistake electrical components for prey and rip through structure and ships alike to get at what they thought was food.
If you have a name for these little buggers, feel free to suggest one, because I got nothing > <
