Iris is a wisper, a creature that has learned how to use wisps. Wisps are the basic parts of the soul which are present everywhere. Like most wispers, Iris carries a slinger. The stone inside the slinger is semi-sentient, and carries additional wisps. It can be used to cast wisps to perform techniques, in this case concentrating wisps into sources of light. It can also be thrown like a boomerang. Iris also has a falcon mount named Typhoon, who became her companion after she freed it from some vines.

A part of the forest-dwelling Coedwig tribe, Iris doesn't know anything about her birth clan. She was found and adopted by Moss, a squirrel elder of the Everwood clan. All she remembers is the smell of smoke and some uniformed rodents. Now, when she sees the smoke emerging from the horizon, she has the urge to approach it. Unfortunately, Elder Moss forbids it, as the source of the smoke is undoubtedly the Napreduk, whom Moss sees as a threat to wispers.
