Join me in this scene for a moment, if you will. It is early afternoon, the air at a comfortable temperature. The sun is gradually setting, most of its warmth and light able to breech the thin clouds. Aside from a gentle breeze rustling the trees behind you, there is silence; not a sound comes from the sparse strands of civilisation below. You are facing west, and from near the summit of this hill you can see for miles. Literally; that final hill you can see is over 8 miles away. On a clearer day, you could see the city and port of Swansea, but for now there is only this small part of the world to enjoy. Such moments are few and far between these days, and so I hope you get to enjoy each and every one. ^__^
I’ve always been fascinated by the way a shallow stream of water as a valley river can carve through solid earth over tens of thousands of years. Though such a process could not be feasibly documented, it would be incredible to watch, and the results of all that work and energy today strike me as particularly beautiful parts of our natural world. Be it my own small valley in South Wales, or the towering edges of the Grand Canyon, which when viewed from above can only be described as an almighty crack on the earth’s surface, and from the ground can never be described enough to do the magnificent sight justice.
Hope you enjoy!
