Grave Diagnosis

Hi friend, I cough with illness, scratchy throat.
Some symptoms: scorching fever, clammy fur
My bones are sore, the claws and sinews writhe
This stomach pain, can't eat, cannot sleep,
I'm tossing, turning, throwing blankets off.

I left my bed, sullen, crossing thresholds
To sit in fluorescent glow, keys in front,
I wonder... what did afflict me this time?

I searched the web: EBOLA! Now I know!
And though I never left my little town
WebMD symptoms fit my Klondike ills
Some doctors wrote the page, they would know best!
Uh oh...the symptoms coming make me sick....
