Bala meets up with a mysterious legend of Appalachia, the Nunnehi'hi
Who is it? What is it?
Not 100% if I'll use this in the story since so much has changed in the Terra - Ragnarok storyworld but there is a possible idea.
Addendium: 04/15/19
At last this story does have a future and important aspect to the entire book, thanks to
Andibi Of course, it'll have to be completely re-written but now I know WHY the chapter exists.

You switched perspective which is a no no.
There is a quite a black hole in the the rhetoric here with these uplifts and there enculturation ties to Cherokee tradition. Now we must ask our selfs is the nunbehhi legit and this exisiting long before the cataclysm and there perspective of all parties or is it something else like a old world human cloning to this identity. Also logic problem Bala has to think on an important element of Cherokee culture, what holes are exisiting in the enculturation process for this: I do enjoy the set up though.

Thank you. I remember this being a 600 word challenge, and it was challenging to get this in 600 words. But yes, you rose some questions I need to ask. I based the concept of the Nunne'hi on a set of extrasolar species who use special technology to mask who they really are. But in the last few years, I thought differently about bringing such into the storyline. Still the legend of them is compelling to say the least. One thing I do like is the descriptive aspect showing how the world is 200 years AC (after the catastrophe) which I'm leaning heavily on the series "Life after People"
Thank you for the help.
Thank you for the help.
D'oe! You again gave me the direction I need! Yes, Bala could benefit from an elder being with her. The spiritwalk rules does not forbid her from having advice or a mentor, just that he cannot aid her in the walk itself. This may be an important step in the entire story! Especially since Bala will be the key to starting the reunification of Earth. Thank you!
Now...who IS this elder? Is he a true Nunn'ehi? Hmmm....:)

Thank you! Yes, the Nunn'ehi are a very interesting legend. I heard of these many times when i was young, but never connected the dots until later when I read about them and suddenly I thought...
Extrasolar beings
Like UFOs, and Appalachia is loaded with legends of cyptids, and even UFO style rumors (even an area 51). So it's not too hard to think that the Nunne'hi could be beings from another planet. But I'm not fully comfortable with that. However I may have something.

Yes, there was a Dr. Who episode (very painful at the end) that showed faires to be life-forms billions of years old -- possibly the 'first born' I can't recall which Dr. (I think Tenent, possibly Smith) but I think I got the idea too of portraying the Nunne'hi as such. The concept just didn't work out I'm afraid.
I still feel like there is something truly extraordinary about then, almost magikal but I'm not going that route either :). But for Terra Ragnarok, I think now the true Nunne'hi are as the legends suggest. In the Terra (Prime) universe -- the 'before time' as the people of Terra Regnarok knows it, humans had developed anti-senescence treatments and I can see the plentycaels of that time was also treated with that. (After all, you pay huge amounts of credits for a slave, wouldn't you want to keep them for a long time?) But the treatments arn't heritable. So I can see the Nunne'hi are ones born before the catastrophe, and managed to survive the cold period . They would be rare then and probably live with others like them. (In Black Mt, as the legend suggest. OHHHH!!! they can also have have tech from that before time they use. Much like a techo-mage from B5...Oh I finally worked out this group! (giggles) That would keep them within the Terra framework too. Oh good!
"...but us humans just don't have the faculties to perceive very much beyond the plainly physical? They say cats and dogs can see things that we can't -- I wonder if that applies to other animals and, more to the point, to Plentycaels? Lots to think about --fun, too! :)..."
Oh indeed! That's one major aspect I've always seen. Although they're uplifts, they still have the animal mind and senses they're ancestors had. YOu'll see that in my story 'Land of Plenty' showing Bala's POV at night. I really thought about how that would be though her eyes. So yes, they can sense things far differently than we do. Of course seeing in the ultraviolet, and night vision far in excess. But also smell too, and hearing. a lot harder to protray in writing but I'll do what I can. I can see that'll change any Plenty's perspective of the world especially when it all is taken into account at once. We don't prorceeve the world just though eyes. We also have sound information, smell and sometimes tactcal as well as ... well I'm not fully sure how to say this, but there may be a mental sensory which might be the ones above merged together or beyond that. One of the hard things to say. But yes. They /would process it differently./
