So, I feel a little strange uploading non-anthro here for some reason, but I figured it would be nice to show people here what I've actually been up to lately.
This is one of the 3 projects I've been working on for my new modeling/texturing reel. The character depicted is Captain Richard Winters of the 101st Airborne Division. Character reference was gathered from the miniseries "Band of Brothers," (where Winters was played, and therefore modeled after, Damian Lewis.)
The character was modeled in Maya, and textured using a combination of ZBrush and Photoshop. The Setup Machine Maya plugin was used for the rig, then he was lit and rendered using Mental Ray.
All other scene elements are a matte painting built in Photoshop, where I put together the final composite.

This is quite impresive, the fact that i could tell who it was modeled after by looking at the face is a very good sign. Im not liking some of your edges through, his packs/satchels/pockets/etc seem very round as does the garand and his bayonet, perhaps more beveling on your edges may help. The bags seem...like a part of his coat, they seem out of place because of the way they smooth into his clothing. The helmet i like quite alot, the fact that the net and camo..cloth...stuff is actually modeled is very nice. The textures however, are VERY nice, i like them. The cloth i dont find too convincing, but i like how youve done seams in his pants, and creases in the sleeves etc (are those textured or modeled?) Still, this is very cool. And thats about all i can really say using my limited 3D knowledge. You used ambient occlusion on this didnt you? it always makes things look 10x awesome xD
