2017 commission for Arialth. The image for this piece came fairly fully formed from reading their description, but I still put in the extra effort of creating a clay maquette to make sure I got the lighting on the plate scales and the head right. The other challenge came in rendering a black dragon in space, but thankfully clients have continued to be receptive to my pushing palettes into new realms, and I think the result here was especially effective.
