Born as the first daughter of Jessaine and Aulard Solis, in the antiquated Kingdom of Selacia, on the planet Solont, Valcione Emelia Solis was raised in a life of privilege, nobility, and wealth. From an early age, she enjoyed the best that money could buy. The best tutors. The best private schooling. The most expensive clothes. The most revered social status. However, as with everything in life, a price must be paid. For Valcione, that price was the love and affection of her parents, and the terrible burden of the expectations that replaced them. Regarding Valcione and her younger sister Marina with a cold distance, Jessaine and Aulard expected their daughters to become paragons of noble virtue, learned in all the social graces and ready to be married off for political gain.
It was not to be.
In the end, the sisters would have none of it. All the best-laid life plans in the world couldn't stop Valcione from being seduced away by the love of an earnest man. On the day of her graduation, Valcione defied the wishes of her parents; she chose not to be an empty vessel to be filled with the ambitions of her parents, and instead chose to follow her high school boyfriend, a handsome fox named Rex. As an idealist and dreamer, Rex had long turned his eyes skyward, to the universe and its vast untapped potential. Hand in hand, he and Valcione left the life aristocracy behind them, and signed up together for the Solont Space Forces, the global military charged with defending their world. Together, they dreamed of a life spent together, exploring the stars and the boundless possibility they represented.
It was not to be.
Marina, the beloved sister whom Valcione had clung to in their loveless childhood, couldn't find it in herself to follow them. She had always been a rebel, a punk, an anarchist; to her, the Solont Space Forces, and the authority they wielded, were merely the truest expression of the government her parents had slavishly devoted themselves too. Heartbroken, she spurned the invitation Valcione and Rex had extended her, broke their hearts in turn, and ran away, never to be seen or heard from again. Despite this wound, however, Valcione still had hope for a happy life together. Just a few short years later, both she and Rex held positions of respect and fulfillment. Rex was a qualified pilot with the 177th Mechanized Defense Squadron, and Valcione had grown into a promising young command officer, respected by her superiors, and well-liked by her peers. With their first child on the way, Valcione believed she and Rex were destined for happiness.
It was not to be.
No one foresaw that Solont, in it's aggressive push to explore and expand to the stars, would run headlong into the overtures of an omni-symbiotic planetary hive mind. None predicted that, with both sides incapable of communicating with the other, this first contact with an alien life form would devolve into unrelenting hostility. And no one imagined that the First Contact War, against the assimilating alien organism Solont had dubbed “QB,” would turn into an existential fight for survival. Over 20 years of brutal warfare left Rex and millions of others dead, the surface of Solont in ruins, and Valcione forced to estrange herself from her children and rise, through both merit and attrition, to leadership of the entire Space Forces. Though Solont achieved its ultimate victory over an enemy that threatened nothing less than absolute annihilation, they had nothing left to give. The planet was in crisis, the government was in collapse, and the military that had sworn to protect that world had been pushed too far for too long. With no enemy left to fight, and thus no outlet for the pain and rage and sorrow they had built up over the years, the Space Force had begun to tear itself apart. 'Victory' promised to destroy everything that every Solonti had fought so hard for. But...
It was not to be.
In those confusing and dangerous times, Solont needed, more than anything else, a leader, and it found one in Supreme Commander Valcione Solis. In a confluence of opportunity, responsibility, and vision, she realized that she had the power to lend her voice to plead for an end to the infighting that wracked the defenders of Solont, and to use her command to force the cycle of sorrow and vengeance to end, when her pleas for calm and forgiveness went unheard. As Supreme Commander, Valcione declared the end of the First Contact War, reawakened the Space Forces to their true purpose, and turned their resources towards the task of rebuilding the planet and protecting its people. In the wake of the calamity of war, she knew that it fell to her to tell the world that everything was going to be okay, and then exercise every power, authority, and command at her disposal to make that promise a reality.
As the Ruler of the World, Valcione projected an aura of confidence and surety, of kindness and grace, and of incorruptible empathy for everyone. In private, she is a deeply troubled woman. Though years have passed, Rex's death still aches in her heart, and that pain is only amplified by the estrangement from her children, Falk and Loren. Though she loved them dearly, Valcione had not spoken to them in over 10 years; war kept them apart, saw them grow up without her, and Valcione simply could not muster up the nerve to reach out to them, no matter how badly she wanted to. The disappearance of her sister Marina, too, continued to haunt and gnaw at her. However, as much as she was in turmoil, she had resolved to endure. Solont needed a strong and compassionate leader. Solont needed her.
Now, Solont enters a new era. As the sole and supreme leader of a military dictatorship, Valcione rules the planet with a gentle hand, guiding the world towards her vision of the future. A future where Solont's people – her people – can live freely and without worry, and where Solont can once again advance into the cosmos without animosity or fear.
And when Solont found happiness as world, perhaps then Valcione would be able to find it for herself, as well.
Just a quick rundown of the history of my beloved character Valcione Solis, depicted here giving a triumphant speech to the people of Solont to remind them that, despite the tragedy and sorrow they've been through, they still have a bright future ahead of them, ready to be seized!

I have, but it's nooooot quite ready to be posted yet. Hopefully I'll break through this writer's block of mine and get it finished off pretty soon. ^.^
Valcione's story, and the story of Solont, is one that I've been turning over in my head for years and years now. It's pretty exciting to finally have the nerve to share it with everyone!
