Many years ago, while perusing various furry art archives, I came across artwork by Andrew Murphy-Mee, a/k/a
slinky
I really liked his characters, especially a rabbit named Clover. We began corresponding, trading artwork and ideas, and Andrew created a rabbit character for me named Thistle, who became Clover's sister. He then came up with an idea for a drawing: One day, while strolling through the forest, Clover and Thistle come across a pixie and are delighted by this rare and magical sight. He also came up with a title for the piece: "Babes in the Woods."
I've been working at illustrating his idea, off and on since about 1995 or so. There have been many roughs, sketches, drawings and re-drawings until I finally came up with the version I'm posting here. This has to be one of the longest projects I've ever worked on and it is testimony to how much I liked Slinky's idea. I haven't heard from him in years but if you're out there, Andrew, this is dedicated to you.
Everyone else: I hope you like it!
