Adomm greeted me directly once. She only ever does that if she's got a lingering question on her mind.
Out of respect, I offered my wisdom, asking her what she wanted despite her not saying anything other than my name.
She told me that in this particular universe that she frequents, the creatures there have an odd form of communication, in which they repeat their name or segmented variations of it, mixing in tone and harmonics to express emotion and inquiry. She asked me what sort of evolutionary process would've invoked such a convoluted means of communication.
I blinked, or rather emulated that to express that I required a moment to process the question. I am familiar with the universe she frequents... or rather, a variation of it. To be honest, though, I never really thought about that. To speak through various repetitions of a single word indicative to their own species...
My presumption, after several minutes of internal debate while she picked at a template, arrived at the theory that originally, every single one of these creatures were once domesticated, but back then, human beings had no eyeballs. Or, to be more specific, they haven't yet evolved to the capability of utilizing sight for their everyday routine. And since the creatures themselves existed in a great variety and each one attained to a specific function, they were trained incredibly vigorously to speak their designated phylum so the humans knew what they were. Despite them having no idea what the terms meant, of course. They were so intensely trained over the years that they forgot their native bark or mewing.
After thousands of years of evolution and tripping and falling off cliffs, the humans evolved to possess eyeballs, and the creatures evolved to use their names instead as an adapted form of language, having lost the ability to make any other sounds.
It was an entirely hypothetical situation, but it seemed to satisfy Adomm. She then went on to mention that she had attempted to make one of her human-to-creature transformations utilize that trait by invoking a sort of throat reflex that made it make a sound similar to that term by means of "hiccup", but it did not go very well.
"Will you try it again?" I asked.
"... no, I don't think I will." she replied.
... then we said our farewells.

My theory that Everybody in this world speak their own species name to communicate.
This happens because that world is high of magic there are simple spell allowing to understand others. It requires just verbal component.
Having this spell, animals do not need a complex word proccessor in their brain, just repeat that incantation. And, if you use antimagic, you see that humans repeat "human human human human" instead of talking.
The prove is that some pokemons could learn how to speak with human, but it costs them one of their attacks.
