I like Blitzen best, of all of them.
I'm very interested to see where you're going with all of this. Like I've said before, I think you have a very unique art style and I'm impressed you've been able to keep it while still making so many different characters look distinctive. I think you've done a good job of distinguishing between each of the reindeer.
However, in interest of fairness and honest critique I'll say I think it's in large part because you've done a good amount of detailing the clothing and appearance of each. That is to say, it seems like you have a few different body types and the primary distinctions between the characters are their outfits and thankfully their faces. I think the latter is probably the most important so it's good to see you did a good job with different facial features and characteristics.
Speaking of detail I do think some of the characters designs have some very nice details as well. For some of the clothing, like Cupid's belt, Comet's and Vixen's pants or Blitzen's jacket/boxers, you did include a good design but if you plan to use them in a serial format (and from some comments it kind of sounds like you are) the issue is that you're going to have to keep them consistent.
On that note it would be great to see you work in a serial format again. I do think it's one of your biggest strengths as an artist and although I know it hasn't always gone the way you wanted I'm really glad to see it sounds like you haven't given up. I'll look forward to Christmas Day if indeed that's when you're putting this up.
Some quick character comments before I have to go: I'm impressed how well your character designs match the short description, which I think is a good match for the "index card" test for characters (the fact that Vixen's is female made me laugh). Comet reminds me the most of your character but I have to say my favorite is probably Rudolph, just because Reindeer + Lasers=of course! I mean, how can you have reindeer and not lasers, right?
Anyways, again it's fantastic to see you doing something like this. I really hope it all goes well for you. Thanks a lot for sharing your work with us, and good luck with everything! ^^
My main goal with my art over the most recent years has been in what you mention: Consistency and variety. I've been trying to tone back the level of details I use into a more specific, yet equally impactful, application. Every clothing wrinkle is not necessary, for instance, so long as the right pen strokes can replicate the same feeling. I also have been very concerned with finding a way to add variety into anthro faces, pinpointing the places where features can be changed without altering the animal itself, so I'm glad to see that is paying off. Clothing design is not something I want to rely on to identify my characters, as I plan to have them often changing outfits anyway. I want every character to be identifiable naked, and I mostly rely on the faces for that. Body structure is something I am currently working on, as I realize I hardly have consistent control over it, let alone enough to tweak it for individuals. I'll get there though. ^^
I would go into more details over the characters, but I have so many projects going on at the moment and this thing needs to be rushed to even get done on time, so I'll have to just wing it based on what the drawings give me. Here's hoping that works out. It has in the script so far, I think... Vixen, Murk, and Rudolf pop at least. I suppose you'll be the real judge of that come Christmas Day, though. ;)
You can too!
Although with that antler in his hand seriously painful.
