This is Boysenberry! She's a new OC of mine! She's a squirrel of indeterminate species. Actually that's not quite correct, I actually have something of a backstory in mind for her that I haven't had time to flesh out.
She's actually some type of lifeform from another world (I haven't settled on whether she was originally an animal, bacteria, slime beast, whatever). After landing on earth cocooned in a meteorite, the creature imprinted its form on a squirrel because it was the first lifeform "she" encountered. But after discovering that humans are actually the dominant species on this new planet and not squirrels (who knew :P), she attempted to change her appearance to more easily blend with humans. Because of biological limitations and the extra mass required she couldn't make a perfect transition, hence the lovely anthro hybrid she ended up as! This incomplete change also resulted in another notable difference: she doesn't have human vocal cords and can't talk, only chitter and squeak like her original squirrel form. She's also sexless, in the sense that while biologically female, she has no sex drive or even awareness of sex. Thus she's always tamely nude, and doesn't like to wear clothes unless she's actually cold, or to humour her mentor (me). Her large breasts are just bouncy stores of fat to her, she hasn't got a clue why humans seem to pay extra attention to them.
I know that all sounds a bit wanky. I normally cringe at excessive origin stories for OCs, and I don't usually make an actual backstory for a character who exists mostly so I can get commissions of her being cute/fluffy/macro/busty, but I actually was thinking of writing a short story about this origin, and so I'm hedging my bets and getting some of these ideas on "paper" so I can revist them later when I have time.
Don't ask me why she has the same fur patterns as Boysenberry ice cream (hence her name). Perhaps she was going for a camouflage pattern until she could determine how hostile this world's creatures are, but because squirrel's have dichromatic color vision she couldn't tell the difference between purple and green... I don't know. It's my favourite ice cream flavour and I think it makes her look really pretty, okay? :>
Also, knowing me, I'll probably find a canonical reason to give her the ability to change size so I can get macro art of her. I do have something in mind that could work well with the story, but I don't want to spoil just yet, stay tuned~
I haven't yet decided if she's going to be digigrade or plantigrade, but this was the artist's first draft and I liked it so much I didn't want to see it redrawn. Have yet to get a ref sheet for her, I may need a test picture of her plantigrade before I commit.
Hope you like her! Expect more art in the future!

Hey, if there's anyone we can trust to take a concept meant for pure macro wish fulfillment and make it entertaining for everyone, it's you! Being undecided on her design would make sense for a character with limited shapechanging, totally wouldn't just be an excuse to switch between digitigrade and plantigrade, really.
As someone who delights in giving her characters long histories, being a novelist and all, I really like the story you came up with for Boysenberry here. It's cute and her alien origin and incomplete understanding of the world on which she now finds herself could potentially lead to all kinds of interesting, and amusing, scenarios. Not to mention, as the above poster already said, her naturally amorphous state could give you all the excuse you need to explain away anything from minor changes in the way her feet and legs look to major ones like a possible proclivity for growing massively in size. As for her unusual coloration for a squirrel, well, just look at all the unusually colored critters that are already running all around this site, and I think it's safe to say she'll fit right in! Besides, it's a really pretty design and it does make her super cute!
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more art of her in the future, and thanks for nudging me over here! I don't know how I missed seeing her originally, but she really is a beautiful girl, and she sounds like so much fun!
