
Last semester, I decided to experiment with ceramic underglazes and made a quick tiger on a plate with a needle eyedropper.
In ceramics, most high-fire glazes aren't as predictable as, say, acrylic paints. Color theory doesn't apply and a knowledge of chemistry is generally more useful. However, "underglazes" are a matte glaze that is more predictable, and if a layer of high-fire clear is applied on top, then you get a nice glossy finish on top of predictable colors.
