Ride to Victory - Reference Photo & Sketch
Just in case anybody's interested, I figured I'd post what goes into one of my doodles. Try as I might, I can almost never get bodies to look right, particularly in dynamic and foreshortened poses, so I usually end up relying very heavily on models. In this case, since there just weren't many pics of people straddling tank barrels on the net, I mounted this poor flak trooper on a half-complete panther model of mine and took his photo for reference. He plus a photo of a lady straddling a motorcycle let me create this decent sketch, though proportion issues arose as I got more and more drawn on paper. When something feels off, rather than redo a completed section, I tend to make a note and fiddle with it later in Photoshop. Check out the finished product (here), and you can see how much integrating those comments helped.
