What you see on the corner there is a (modified) marine grade brass shackle. It's not just bolted through one thin layer of leather like everything else. No, I had a leather smith (shoe repair man) install a second grommet so I could bolt it through all the layers! The chain is a solid brass, soldered link "lead chain" for horses, from England.

I'm kinda sad at the death of my old wallet, but if it didn't break I wouldn't be wearing this new beautiful thing.
