I reallly like how this one came out... Here's Legend boi in his full glory.
Okay, I LOVE Legend Spyro, he's my personal favorite out of the three but I cannot stand his games! Seriously, I would rather play, Enter the freaking Dragonfly, rather than A new beginning, or My Eternal Suffering. The only exception I'd make is Dawn of the Dragon, I love that game, but it still has problems. A New Beginning, and The Eternal Pirate Level, are just too painfully repetitive and boring for me. Seriously, I would rather kiss, Skylanders Spyro, than play The Eternal Unskippable Cutscene ever again.
Its such a shame too, since I have a soft spot for the dark and gritty story and kinda liked it, (I grew up listening to a lot of Linkin Park, and Skillet) I honestly would have preferred these games as a movie or show. Although I doubt we will revisit this universe again, but I don't mind, as I think DotD's ending had enough closure for me.
Design of Legend Spyro is based off his look in DotD, personally, this would be my favorite look for the purple dragon, if it weren't for the Reignited Trilogy (I consider reignited Spyro's design to be absolutely perfect, that's how good it is). I just love the more mature older teen/young adult look for the character, in an old piece of concept art I found, Ignitus was supposed to wear armor in A New Beginning at some point, So I tried to follow that look for Spyro's armor, since LOS's Universe is very much fantasy themed, I went with the gallant knight look.
In this AU Legend Spyro's story is very similar to his story in the games, however, there are a few differences, such as how he was raised by a whole village of dragonflies, he also trained with the elders for much longer, and was enslaved by pirates with Cynder for much longer too, before the two finally escaped, the story in DotD is pretty much the same, and at the end, Spyro and Cynder are now free and happily living in Avalar, at least until they were teleported to this world... Legend Spyro is the most mature of the three, and is considered the unofficial leader of the group, he's also the kindest of the group, and willing to help others without delay.
He is the strongest of the three overall, being the best close combat fighter of the group, this is enhanced further by his sword, which was acquired while he was training at the dragon temple at a younger age. He is also the most durable of the three, able to tank hits that would easily take out Classic, and Skylanders Spyro.
One of Legend Spyro's greatest attributes is his ability to use all four elements and all the moves associated with them, his personal favorite is still fire however. His ultimate ability is his Aether breath, which causes Spyro to fire a large, powerful beam of energy, that decimates even the toughest of enemies. But as strong as he is, he is considered the slowest of the three on land, and has the worst charge attack, unlike the other two, he also requires mana for most of his elemental attacks, while this regenerates, he tends to push himself in battles, which makes him prone to running out of mana.
Classic Spyro has great respect for him, believing he makes a good leader, but can find him a little boring and miserable at times. Skylanders Spyro says that he reminds him of Jet-Vac too much, and tends to make fun of his brooding, and angsty attitude.

Now this is the Spyro I'd love to see. I agree with you in that the Legend games weren't that good (I constantly die in "A New Beginning") but I would LOVE to see this adapted into a film, Tv series or even book series. Even though it's probably impossible, I still hold out the hope that one day, we will see more of the Legend series.
Nice Job on this redesign! It actually reminds me of the time I was making a Fan Game outline where the Dragons could use Weapons. It seemed ridiculous to me since they don't have thumbs, but here, you made it work.

Thanks Man!
A New beginning is actually, just really average for me, but not really 'bad'... The Eternal Night on the other hand....
I was actually debating whether or not to give Spyro his sword, but after I found this little fact, I decided to go full on with it.
Fun fact: There was going to be a mission in A New Beginning where Spyro was supposed to find Ignitus's old Lance, Shield, and Helmet as a small bit of character bonding between the two, but it was cut due to limited time, which is a shame, because I would've loved to see that. (You can find this on the wiki).

what about dark spyro, how does he work, as both skylanders and legend spyro have a dark spyro counterpart. i would like too see how that affects the spyro's maby there would be a peiriod of timewhere skylanders and legend would be taken over by their respective dark forms, so classic would have to save them. just a thought
