Well, depending on how stupidly op he's made himself, buckshot won't kill him, but it'll hurt like hell and slow him down, maybe even knock him out (overload pain receptors and you pass out).
And if knocked out he can be properly looted and or killed by various means, such as burying him alive; Claws don't do shit when six feet under.

You know usually the problem isn't death, or regenerating the wound, it's the damage not yet repaired. I mean, so what if you can heal it if the shot breaks your femur and you can't walk.
Unless you've got Dante level healing you'll never beat the next round chambered, and subsequent hits compound damage. That's the whole point of guns, they render physical strength and durability irrelevant.

Ideally, speed and endurance means you wouldn't take the full buckshot blast to the femur. Pellets would glance off hard werewolf bones. Plus, something like a werewolf is charging you, it's unlikely to go down in one hit unless it is to the head which, depending on the caliber of gun, may end up still healing. Except you end up with a Wolverine sort of situation. (no memories) Still, it is theoretically possible to take down a smaller werewolf with one shot to the leg, then follow up shots. Also, this factors in the absence of silver which would really hurt.
Bottom line is, yes, guns will kill werewolves, even without silver. You just need lots of shots and accurate shot placement.

It would still be smarter to, say, use that strength and endurance to wear armored plates cut from an APC into a bulletproof vest. Then wield an M240B with a 1,000 round backpack and go fully juggernaut.
Then you could beat the hoard of humans trying to smash you apart with rifle fire.

Dude, I've been writing werewolves into magical post apocalypses for over a decade, as well as cool crap you can do with a werewolf character to make it interesting. And werewolves using their powers to create unstoppable bullshit combos is my favorite thing.
Also, no one ever does magic apocalypses. I love the idea of a zombie apocalypse where the holed up survivors have a vampire or a werewolf, or any apocalypse where you don't immediately know all the rules or how much crazy B.S. is actually out there.

Wasn't really brains. The kid didn't have the nerve to take the life of another human (dude wasn't human, but he didn't know that), and that's where he failed.
And if you had paid attention, you would've noticed that the whole point of the shotgun argument, was that regeneration don't do shit if you're a pile of meat on the ground.
Only a stupid man wouldn't over prepare in the apocalypse.
