This was an assignment last semester's illustration class! We were allowed to do pretty much whatever we wanted to do for this assignment, so of course I decided to draw one of my birds (her name is Growlie and she is evil sometimes) about to take a chunk out of someone's hand! I'm pretty proud of this.

This is possibly my favorite thing on FA, ever. I love the feather texture in the background and the impending hand of DOOM looming in the foreground. There's so much character in that eye, it kills me. I have a young Blue-front Amazon of my own, Monty, and he turns into a little dinosaur when people reach for him. Not so much biting, as flailing and growling and generally looking very, very intimidating for a normally otherwise incredibly sweet bird. He steps up fine, loves being carried, but oh man. He does not appreciate petting.

Those, Double Yellow-Head's, and Yellow Napes may be amazing talkers, but boy - I don't think there is a more hormonal cranky bird than one of the "Hot Three" Amazons, specifically in mating season.
