In the last posting I did http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3129515 I showed several mice puppeteers in Medieval Europe rehearsing and preparing for a performance. Well it is Fair Day! The marketplace is crowded with visitors from near and far. Some have traveled hundreds of miles away to be here. Merchants, bankers, food and drink vendors, farmers, nobles, craftsman, street performers and mercenaries mingle in the marketplace all looking buy or sell their goods and services. In the midst of all the sights and sounds is our intrepid little band of puppeteers.
Many of the shows have very little dialog from the puppeteers. Instead they rely on a bigum storyteller. He or she can be heard over the din of the market and their narration helps tell the story that is unfolding on the tiny stage. Accompanying the storyteller will often be a couple of bigum musicians who will provide their excitement to the play.
Many of the plays are well known and the audience may know the general stories as well as the performers; therefore the little troupe will often modify them to make them more exciting to the audience. Often the storyteller would make subtle changes to the story to make it more appealing to the immediate crowd. This means that the mice puppeteers must know the stories by heart but be ready to make changes to show on a moments notice. Both young old gather to watch them throughout the day, and the coins they leave in the troupes coffer will pay for their inn fees and travel expenses and materials. After all there is a fair in Paris in two weeks and our band of entertainers always do well there!

Well in some way yes and no. One area where the mice will become heavily involved is special effects. Especially when motion pictures become popular. It was perceived as being easier to have two highly trained mouse puppeteers sit inside the head of prop creature and work the eyes and mouth then try and figure out how to get remotely controlled motors to do the same thing. Also like many things in the entertainment industry the mice formed a guilds and unions to give themselves negotiation leverage.
The bigger effect the mice have had is that in the world tele-presence and remote robotics are not as commonly used. Still there just not as sophisticated and as prevalent.
