BWAHAHAHAHA! *lightning crackle*
Well, actually, it's been finished for a week now. But what with Trig bearing down on me and FA being down, it took this long to get the picture uploaded.
This is my sculpture for my Humanities creative project. The teacher demanded symbolism, so I turned my simple sculpture into a symbolist piece about the environment. Kinda cliche, but I liked it.
No, he's not going to get a mouth. Body language is about 92% of how you understand what's being said, so a mouth really isn't important.
I had to add red duct tape to make him a shirt and he will have a tie when I got to present him. He's supposed to represent the common working class person. They greatly outnumber the politicians and world leaders, making them the most powerful source of change. But, distracted by technology (the cell phone, symbolizing mass media) he looks away from the real issues in the palms on his hands.
The real issue? Should we pay attention to this environmentalist call to save the planet? Or should we ignore it and continue onwards with our fleshy, materialistic desires? Neither is technically wrong, but both will have consequences.
All the materials use symbolize the common materials of our day. PVC is a common plumbing material and is used for the arms and left hand. You can hardly find a house in the US without some kind of paint on the walls, thus the paint can head. The electronics are self explanatory as is the metal for his legs, feet and body. Duct tape is, of course, the material of our time.
So, other then the tie, this is my complete picture of my sculpture. Sorry to disappoint those of you who wanted step by step pictures, but once I get into working on something, I rarely stop until it's done.
