Unlike Natalia, where its a mystery as to whether she's wealthy or not, everyone who knows Simone VanRoDine knows that she's the richest rat-lady in all of Ratropolis. This is signified by her all-gold clothing (not yellow; that's Leah's color).
While Simone may have the most when it comes to material goods, not to mention social standing, reputation and accomplishment, she is still an unhappy person. That's mostly thanks to her loveless marriage with Simon, and to the fact even after 20+ years of being Mrs. VanRoDine, her mother-in-law, Clarissa, still treats her as second-class citizen. Simone does have a loving relationship with her three children, although she's sadly had to watch them all grow up under the influences of Simon and Clarissa.

So it's Simone + Simon? Interesting; it's like something that I'd like to think would be a good omen in an ideal world.
Now moving on to cheerier remarks, I watched the sketch and man, that one was pretty good! I loved Carol's facial expressions throughout, and when she tried to grab her bag and crawl away while being held back, I was reminded of those videos that show dogs being lifted out of water and still trying to swim. X3
And when Cher had to fight to keep from laughing after saying "I'm just an ordinary housewife," just.... AAAHHH! XD

Heh heh, yeah. I honestly didn't plan that from the start, only when I was searching for names for the characters, the names "Simon" and "Simone" just stuck out to me. Plus, I had read in several stories of happily married couples who happen share the masculine/feminine form of the same name; as if it were a sign they were meant to be. Being the kind of person who loves irony in storytelling, I knew I couldn't pass up the chance to have that be the case with Mr. & Mrs. VanRoDine.
Haha, yeah, I was reminded of the same thing too! XD Even Harvey Korman made a similar remark, about how Carol was an Olympic swimmer! XD
And yes, I too can't help but be amused by Cher's little "housewife" moment. Like I said before, ironic humor appeals to me. Heehee.
