Is it shocking that I submitted another art? Yeah, I saw your jaw on the floor there. Pick it up before I force you to mop up your drool.
So who the heck is this? Well, he's Wei Chiang, a crocodile warrior I developed for my Kung Fu Panda story, The Stone Warrior Legend. A certain someone will also recognize him from our RPs.
Bare with me, this is the first time I ever drawn a crocodile. Don't put me up on the stake because I missed some details crocodiles are supposed to have. I even tried following the crocodile art style in the Kung Fu Panda art book to TRY to stay within the Kung Fu Panda style...Yeah, it didn't work quite well...
Also I nearly died drawing that tail of his...
So what role does he have in the KFP world? If the title of the drawing doesn't give it away, he's the nemesis/rival of everyone's favorite panda, Po. I guess he also fits the anti-hero role, even if barely.
You're probably wondering, what happened for this scary guy to have a grudge and an eye for the Dragon Warrior? In a way, he has something to prove to the pudgy panda. Take the Chinese writing on the art.
It says: "I stand against everything you stand for..."
I threw the sentence into a translator to come up with that in Chinese. But if you throw it again through a translator it'll probably say: "I oppose all you represent..."
Oh well, it still delivers the same meaning.
I also would like to add that there are two Chinese characters on his gauntlet there. They are- from top to bottom- "Chiang" and "Wei". They mean "Strong" and "Alone", respectively. (It's his name too! How original!)
His weapon of choice is the Bisento, a Japanese pole weapon with a thick curved blade at the end. He's strong enough to effectively wield it in one paw too. The whole weapon is not on the drawing because at the angle he's standing I don't think it would be fully visible.
Or just said to hell with it because I couldn't draw it right after trying so many times...
But because I wanted to show the weapon anyway I placed it behind the Chinese words slightly transparent there.
Someday I'll learn how to actually shadow my drawings, and learn how to draw a bit of muscle and bulky builds. Any character I attempt to draw comes out looking so...wimpy. Not to mention my own backgrounds.
All right, this is getting long so I'll leave it here. I'll explain his story another time.
I used reference for the pose. And I don't take any credit for the background.
