The effect was an experiment. I have used liquid acrylic paint and salad oil similar to the acrylic pouring technique. The salad oil produced many small bubbles. I scanned the color gradient with a very high resolution and enlarged it. Then I digitally painted the dragon in Photoshop and intensified the colors.
