One of our million projects we have going.
Few weeks ago we had a discussion in group on what breeds of domestic dog the Tokushi fox could be modded into, and this was one. This was a long time coming anyway xD (YES NASH, we finally made one) <3
Chinese hairless crested with full ear tapers and clipped version, still needs its tail, arm and leg floof and some texture fix ups for the skin.
Expect more domestic dog breed mods once we have the rest of the foxes ready ectect.
And yes, these will be available for everyone soon!
Poor Racush had fun with that hair XD

I own one right now~ Her name is Cookie. She was abandoned at the vets because she got mixed with the powderpuff and hairless breeds. The vet that normally used to care for my grandpa's dogs called him, and since she had a deformity and was mixed, he couldn't show her, so he gave her to me. She's missing an ear canal, but she's so adorible and has a really large personally.
I do!

I know her ears aren't as fluffy as most, but she's pure chinese crested xD
My grandpa has had many champions from his litters, and he also breeds rottwielers in the same house~ What a difference right?
I do!

Awww she is an utter darling! She has a gorgeous face.
I do want to get a hairless eventually, the issue is finding a good breeder around here (NSW Australia XD). There are a few breeders I think, just a bit few and far between! That and I'd have to wait till I settle in my own home again, my parents have a real thing against cresteds for some reason XD I wanted one in highschool, there was a semi haired one at the pound and they flat out refused D;
And haha rotties and Cresteds, I could imagine them running around together XD

Thank you! She's my baby, and my little brat. We're too much alike xD; She espresses really well though, and is generally the sweetest thing in the world. She also gets along with every animal i've put her around, which is wonderful since I am such an animal person. At one point she, my bird, my rabbit, my neighbors cat and their larger dog all fell asleep in our living room sleeping all over and curled up around one another.
No wonder~ I can assume it might me quite hard to find them in Australia. They can be really wonderful dogs though. I suggest however, if you can not arrange to get one, a paplion is a wonderful alternative. They have almost the same type of faces and really good temperments as well. But good luck getting yourself one! Make sure to give it a lot of love :3
They wouldn't let them run around together, mainly because the rotties are just way too rough. They're great dogs and the large male thinks he's a lap dog. They're the sweetest things ever and I used to not only play and pamper the little cresteds, but also roughhouse with the rotties. The only problem is when the big dogs wanna play, they might accidentally hurt the little ones. So they're kept seporate~
But the distinct difference in barking is sure odd xD

Paplions are cute as hell too XD I am actually considering making one of those for an avatar too, the ears could be used from the crested probably.
My girl Jessie who is a chihuahua/cross everything under the sun looks a little like a underfurred one in some ways haha. Well, not anymore I had her clipped for summer, now she just looks like a chi XD

If you do make one, please let me know! I'm sure if you were able to make a
I wish I had SL skills. I have so many avatars I would love to try to have in 3D. Especially my Kiir. He would be amazing to have. \@0@/ I have so many characters and character ideas that I've yet to complete on drawing. Like right now I've been working on my archaeopterix Velociraptor mix that I had come up with about a year ago named Katan, as well as a Unicorn like creature I made about 2 years ago named Acornis. I'm still improving both my fennec types and my Rins, as well as trying to develop a paplion, sugar glider, and an aquatic sea lion like one~ I just can't stick to one thing!
If you can't tell, I have some not-so-common stuff~ :3 I was considering making one off of my little crested Cookie as well. I just wasn't so sure if I wanted to create something awesome looking, and people might end up fapping to it. :\ That would kinda freak me out. Like... someone masturbating about your little sister...Dx
Aww~ Pic trade! I want to see her if I can~ :3

Here she is from the other week after being clipped XD Scuse the bad photos, she wouldnt sit still for want of attention. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y2.....g?t=1260449333
and this is a really old photo, taken not long after I rescued her (she was an abused girl) - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2137596/
Due to flea rash, being insanely underweight and suffering a mange like skin condition because of the constant irritation, she dosnt look very fluffy 8 months ago. But before I took her to the groomers last week her shoulder fur reached the floor, and the belly fur almost aswell XD

I'm a bit confused in your comment about her being 'mixed' but pure crested. I used to show dogs and studied cresteds for awhile. It was my understand that you HAD to mix the powderpuff and hairless or you risked the lethal hairless gene that kills. In the show ring a lot of the hairless you see are just shaved down powderpuffs XD
No, the hairless on the ring are not shaved down powder puffs. How you tell, is the amount of hair that is on the undertummy. Normally, if someone tries to pass the powederpuff off as the hairless, they are disqualified. The hairless have no hair on their underbody, and so would not have any hair in any of the hair folicles. It is possible to tell when one is a fraud. It's happened several times in the show rings that my grandfather shows his champions in. I'm not sure how far you made it into the dogshow system, but I know the really high show rings will disqualify you for that if they suspect.
Now, there is a difference than shaving down a powderpuff, and shaving down a hairless with body hair. Now hairless are not always completely bald on their backs. Because of the unique way that they breed and you can get one or the other, some of the hairless have a light amount of hair on their back, which i've heard referred to as "hairy hairless." They are allowed to shave down their backs for show ring, because they are still inheretly Hairless Chinese Cresteds. Does that make sense?
However, there are two types of chinese crested. Intermixing them will still result in a pure bread chinese crested, however the offspring have a chance of not taking on the parents hairless or powderpuff gene. Technically, if I shaved my puppy, she might be considered a hairless in the ring if she were a show dog. However, because of the sheer amount of hair that grows on her back, she can't be considered a hairless. She also can't be considered a powderpuff either because she does not produce any hair on the underside of her body. Which is why I say she's mixed. She is also missing an ear canal that did not develop, so it's quite possible that her hair situation is part of her 'deformity'.
No, you don't have to mix the powderpuff and hairless. The gene you're talking about only occurs after 3 generations down. You see, it's almost like a recessive gene, except not. This is a very special trait of chinese cresteds. If you keep breeding hairless with hairless every single time, you can eventually cause deformities or still births. The trick is to breed a powderpuff at least once every 3 generations. You can breed hairless to powderpuff and recieve a mixture of all types, hairless and hairless to recieve all hairless or a mixture, powderpuff to powderpuff to recieve all powderpuff. However if you were to take a PxP child and mix it with a hairless, it goes back to being a mixture, rather than following Medels punnet square meathod of determining.
They really are quite the odd breed~
As for mine. she is 'mixed' because of what I explained above, and her parents were of both powderpuff and hairless. However since she is not mixed between two types of dogs, but rather two types of the same dog, she is a pure chinese crested. Just as if you mixed a long haired and a short haired dauchsund. The result is still completely dauchsund.
You can have:
Pure hairless (both parents hairless)
Pure powderpuff (both parents powederpuff)
Mixed hairless (one hairless one powderpuff)
Mixed powderpuff (one hairless one powderpuff)
I don't know if that is a technical term or not, but that is how I've heard them being called between the many breeders I've been around since childhood.
I hope that helps~

Well the shaving down of powderpuffs to show was something I heard from others who were breeding and showing cresteds. Granted I haven't been active in the dog show world for 10yrs now, so maybe stuff has changed. I was told the correct way to know a true hairless was to look in the mouth as their teeth are very different from a powderpuff. I never looked in a crested mouth so just going by what others in the breed told me lol I bred and showed Italian Greyhounds and Ibizan Hounds.
I miss that world *sigh*
I miss that world *sigh*
I can't say that I don't miss dog shows. The only thing that really bugged me as a child, was how snootish some of the handlers could be. My grandpa may keep his dogs in kennels most the time, but when they are out, they at least get loving and they allowed me to play with them. Some of the women there wouldn't even let me near the dogs at all. Though, there are so many really pretty breeds of dogs, and I used to enjoy helping out.
My grandma and I would often help set up the treat and water tables for the dogs and the people. Seporate of course!
It's an interesting one indeed~
perhaps one day you can get back into it?

very very cute! I always thought the dogs looked like my little ponies in show clip. I would kill for a good tri color shiba inu av, lol .. well kill might be pushing it.. It would be good to see more Spitz type breed (there are so many more than the husky).. well heck more breeds in general... there are so many really awesome looking ones out there that lack a decent av. Shepherds would be good, the German and Belgian varieties, dobermans, wolfhounds, elk hounds, setters, spaniels pointers, st.Bernard, great Danes (a harlequin would look awesome), pit bulls, border collies, blood hound, various retrievers, toy breeds, Pomeranians, papillions, shi tzus, and Chihuahuas the possibility are endless..
For some reason I want to make that avatar into a furry version of this:
