Thank you for the kind words! Since this was my first time trying out this approach to shading, it's really hard for me to think of any tips to give on top of my head. If given a few more tries using this method of shading I could probably give you a much better answer.
There is however a great tutorial on shading made by Zillion Ross (Imaginatively Unimaginative) on YouTube. It's a good tutorial for understanding shading in general, plus his style of shading is similar to the one I used in the picture. I hope that helps!
