So on the way home from Midfur, in the middle of no where, this happened.
Somehow, i hit the soft gravel shoulder of the road on a slight turn, going around 100km/h, the first thing i did was turn away from it (as it was a steep ditch into trees past the gravel) and, never actually done anything like this before... (like high speed burnouts/ doeys ect)!! i didnt know how to handle a spinning vehicle! XD
So after turning away from the gravel, going too far to the other side i tired to straighten up, but lost control and we just 360'd and slid sideways and backwards into a tree...hard.
To me, it doesnt really look like much.. but for instance, if i hadnt turned off the gravel and had ploughed straight on, I'm sure there would have been a nice tree sized indent in the front, and possibly very sore foxys. >.>
So after all that i probably was very lucky to hit were it did, because after the tires were re-pumped and debris removed from them, it was still able to drive. no chassis or diff damage either..i think. Just a very squished tail light, impaled bumper with chunk of tree, crumpled drivers side and a door that doesnt close well anymore. ;_;
I love my ute ;_________;

A shame to hear about your Ute hon. :(
Remember to get the damage quoted by a panel beater and mechanic before you go in and commit to get repairs. Even panel work in australia is very expensive. Buying a new ute may end up cheaper. You'll just have to suss it out.

Anything can be repaired. Its just time and money, We will pursue the most economically viable solution. We have yet to inspect the undercarriage for damage properly. and the integrigidity of the diff is possible suspect. If the wheels had of been alloy it would have bent/snapped at the hub, no doubt. so i'm surprised there is no bend in the axle/s.
crazy annot enjoy his naep tiem ;__;
Im not the one to go paradeing my life all that much, id tell if asked, but dont see me gianing anyhting but sympathy by telling most people. I tell my bro for sake of need to repair/replace. and others when need arises. I am an automatons machine, i have no need for not needing unneeded things.

That all depends on your insurance company and the contract you signed.
With these cars, because of their age and "resale value" the maximum you can be insured for is about $1200 with excess of BLA. annual cost of about $500-800 a year for full comp on top of 3rd party. which is what you need in this case. They stipulate things they will not insure. In our case, wheels and stereo.
In the event the car is damaged and the lowest quoted repair price is over $1200 the car is a "write off" and the insurance will give us $1200 and take the car, selling the shell to highest bidder. ie, crusher, metal recycler, wreckers or private buyer. but the car has been "written off" and cannot be re-registered without removing this restriction. which is red tape and money.
IMHO its not logical to spend money insuring out cars because it will just fk us over.
the damage to the ute there ^ Is well over $1200
$600 car-o-liner fee, $400+ laber $6-800 paint and $300 parts.
the cost of buying a new ute ~$1000
that's just an example of course.

Yeah I see that point. though mums car damage was more then the car cost thing was only worth $500 last I checked and the new boot lid and spoiler and the labor went over $1000 but mum demanded they fix it and they did, though yes that could just be her company.
They might sell it to the auction house, there is a place here where they take wright offs and do a Quick (some times unsafe) repair and sell them off, they sell all kinds of cars my cousin actually works there lol.
I was going to buy a ford ute of a kind like that a few months back for $800, but new computer came first.

meh she lives on!!!! our truck is in the shop right now as well ( getting new double plate clutch) bc i burned up the clutch and broke the clutch forks off roading, but ya she doesnt look that bad at all just needs to be hooked up to a frame puller straitened out then about 3-4 hours of body work and some paint and good as new =p
This sucks, what ever happened with it?
And I know what you mean by loving your ute, i have a 1985 XF Falcon that had been.....modified....by its previous owner....for the better XD The thing was a beast but sadly age caught up with her while she was broken down and the underside started to rust. Still not sure if it is viable to get it replaced or if i should just strip the old girl down and keep the good parts. Either way saddens me but if i can save her I will.
