[Since I don’t want to sit here empty handed after the downtime here is a unfinished snippet from the anatomy sheet(s) I still have yet to finish. Yes, this pic is an indication of what you should expect.]
How do you convey the sensation of touch in art? On regular things it is easy, but what if the item in question looks regular, but it is physically abnormal? How do I convey to you what a Hand-full-o-Synx would feel like? I don’t know, but goddamnit I am going to try!

What I meant was...
"Synx has something on it’s skin that resembles the tiny, clear hairs that are along human skin, but blue. These are not hairs, however, even though they feel the same. They can be compared to intestinal villus, and can be quite harmful when active. When they vibrate Synx can seem to ‘melt’ through soft flesh (Muscle, fat, etc)."
But that answers my question as to why that effect isn't happening right now. I was simply too lazy to go and check. ;P

I thought that farty sound when you empty a can of dog food was the air squelching back in around the edges of the colloidal slop to fill what would otherwise be a vacuum. I'd think this kind of squish would make a quissssh noise like squeezing spaghetti noodles. But then again, the Synx is weird, no?
I think everyone should try this exercise...I for one have a hard time portraying such things in my own work, but you did a fantastic job. There seem to be very few artists that spend time on the little wrinkles of skin that are displaced during a grab or touch, but it really adds a level of realism and feel.
From this I picture Synx muscle to feel something like the texture of a live octopus. XD
They are surprisingly squishy, but strong as hell when the muscles are a'movin. Add a funky skeletal structure to set a basic shape... and it works perfectly.
..... Now I'm picturing a Synx squirming it's entire body through something like a mouse hole. (All kinked up inside the walls to get tasty morsels)

Me personally, I wouldn't be trying to eat it. Id be using for more scientific reasons because I love science. If aliens can makes use for it, I'm sure humans can too. I'm talking medical reasons, cures, fuel, ingredients....so many possibilities...and hey...maybe even safe conversions to make it edible.
