Appleseed was the best weekend I ever spent shooting. I would suggest it to anyone who really wants to LEARN about shooting and marksmanship as a skill, not a hobby.

Quite the kludge, but Savage makes good rifles at a reasonable price.
I've wanted to go to an Appleseed event, myself, though there hasn't been one anywhere near me. But I checked once more, now, and there's one about an hour away next spring, so thanks for the reminder on that!

It's a credit to Savage that despite how ghetto that thing is, it still shoots straight. Appleseed is WELL worth a long drive to get to, especially if you can camp or something nearby. We drove 45 mins there and back each day for ours, mostly cause we didn't want to camp in 40 degrees and raining.
