April was kind of a struggle to figure out what I wanted the sketch to be, so I laid out some options for Scarlett to consider and they really liked the Sonya Blade from MK9 design, so we went with that. I figured it was good timing since MK11 was coming out this month and it would be a good homage to the series, which I had followed since the begining, though feel out of it for a bit during it's time between MK Deception and MK9. Not the best period in the series. :P
Sonya has a lot of good outfits and designs throughout the series with this and her design in MK3 being my favorites. Her MK3 look is pure 90s with the workout attire, high socks and sneakers, which I am really fond of having grown up and come of age during that time. But her MK9 design takes the cake as it's just so impractical for military attire (the flak jacket top and high heel combat boots standing out especially XD), but is so much my (and Jessie's) style. I originally wanted a pose similar to Sonya's win pose from MK3 or one of Jessie blowing a kiss as a reference to one of Sonya's signature Fatalities and special moves. But Scarlett convinced me that this pose was just as good as the others and did a fantastic job with it. It's definitely a pose Jessie would break out for a photo shoot. ;)
Possibly have a bondage follow up in the future since Sonya herself plays damsel in distress a couple times in the series.
