Well, the mermaid may not have known herself! She's probably used to mostly eating fish. Now that she's up on land, she has to make do with whatever she can fit down her throat -- which is apparently a lot!

That's a pretty great mental image, actually. Like, a couple adventurers walk by and they're like "it's just a slime, not worth our time to slay" and then this mermaid head pops out and is like "Hey! You take that back!"

Great to see this odd couple again, though what does the slime get to eat? Do they have to dump their passenger into a nearby horse trough first?

I figure the slime has to eat too, though possibly not as often as the mermaid. I have this idea that the slime has such good control over its body that it can make part of it digestive but not the other part, so potentially it could grab someone and digest them (probably in a melty absorption kind of way) with the mermaid unharmed right next to them. Though the mermaid may prefer to be put in a nearby lake or river while it happens.
