This is a birthday present for ThyWordIsTruth. This file is very big! You've been warned. They made a very nice drawing of my OC Evangeline and I wanted to return the favor <3 I took some liberties with the designs, hopefully, that's okay. You can view each of them individually here: https://sta.sh/21oc14veiwr0
Some in-depth information I've head-cannoned --
Mooscuro - The Wild Charge Pokemon
Ability - Plus (Male), Minus (Female), Static (Female), Volt Absorb (Male)
Hidden Ability - Static Mist // Boosts the power of electric and dark type moves. User is immune to electricity.
Etymology - Name is a combo of moose and the Spanish word for dark. Wild Charge is a pun.
Design - Mooscuro's male form is the first of the Pokemon I sketched but the last I colored in. While normal moose are certainly intimidating, they lose most of that powerful feel when cartoonized -- see Happy Tree Friends as an example of what I mean. So, to help combat that I threw in some more wildebeest like traits. The horns had to stay no matter what, as that's a moose's identifying feature. I also decided to give horns the female version since she felt kind of naked without them. Ken Sugimori's designs for Pokemon based on real animals normally have something supernatural to set them apart, with the exception of Generation 1. So... she gets horns.
Color Theory - The colors are slightly altered, with the biggest change being the stripe color. The blue-green stripes glow like it's horns when it attacks, but remain unlit otherwise. The horns always glow.
Lore - Mooscuro is a dark type, but besides it's black fur, it lacks elements that play off of it's typing. I had the idea to let it emit some kind of black smoke as a defense mechanism and the rest fell into place. The basic concept is that The males are the lightning and females are the thunder. If they were made official they would play off of each other's skills similar to Meowstic.
Sparkbark // Sparkbite - The Shock Puppy Pokemon // The Shock Pokemon
Ability - Static, Guts
Hidden Ability - Defiant
Etymology - Do I really need to explain this?
Design - These two were the easiest to do. Besides a few small details, I didn't need to change much. They are based mostly on Shiba Inus. I was kinda worried if they were too "fluffy" since most furry Pokemon are either really furry like Arcanine or hardly furry like Houndoom. There's not a lot of Pokemon in the middle. The shading is different on these two because I colored them first. Hopefully, it isn't too noticeable...
Color Theory - They're yellow electric types, what more do you need?
Lore - Again not much was altered. Most early dog-like Pokemon fall into the same category of "friendly companion who becomes a bit defiant with age" or "sneaky trickster that becomes violent" with a few exceptions. I imagine Sparkbark would fit into the first category.
Polessum // Polefrost // Polebite - The Frostbite Pokemon
Ability - Ice Body, Refrigerate
Hidden Ability - Snow Warning
Etymology - Polessum is a combo of Pole and Opossum. The last part Polefrost and Polebite's names form the word frostbite, hence their species name.
Design - I had a fun time coming up with something for my version of their designs. Since the final form had ice growing on it, I decided to make that a feature of all of them. The ice progresses along their bodies for each evolution until it ends up covering most of Polebite's body. I may or may not have taken the idea of using part of its body as a weapon from Oshawott
Color Theory - Most of the colors are the same, with some variations in markings here and there. Originally I was going to make the tail and legs pink like the nose but after looking at it for while I changed it back. The pink was clashing too much with the rest of the colors.
Lore - Nothing was altered to heavily from the base information besides having the ice being used as a tool/weapon as it evolves.
So ya'll have probably noticed someone is missing... I did do Toxicott but for the life of me I couldn't come up with something I liked. (In terms of design, not lore). I'll take another crack at it eventually but not for a while. The next goal is to start getting pages uploaded for P:AW. Chapter one is out of the sketching phase (finally!) so now it's just line art and coloring.
And yes, I did skip a number. I was operating under the assumption that there's another Pokemon after Sparkbite and we just haven't seen it yet.
