Well, I posted this little fic up a while back on ff.net. I still need to continue it and with my recent writing mood, I shuld get an update for this soon. I noticed that the SSB fandom only seems to have a certain handful of shonen-ai pairings that keep popping up and it surprises me that no one bothered to look up these two. I mean, I'm probably the only one here that thinks that Ike and Fox would have the best chemistry considering their backgrounds. Or at least understand each other.
I don't own any of the characters, they all belong to their rightful owners. I just wrote this since I happen to like strange pairings.
Pairings: Ike x Fox, Link x Sonic, Marth x Pit, Sheik x Wolf, Zelda x Samus...and maybe some Falco x Roy (don't know yet).
Rating: PG-13 just for the light fluffy-ness and shonen-ai moments…mostly between fur and non-fur characters.
Quien Sera, Sera Para Mi
(Whoever will it be, will be for me)
Part One
It was a light midsummer afternoon and all around the Smash Stadium of This World was rather busy. The crowd’s cheers would echo through the hallways of the stadium’s interior, and even through parts of the mansion area where the dorms, kitchen, common room, and whatnots would be there. Out in the stadium, rows after rows of seats were taken by bodies of spectators. Sitting high amongst the seats were a couple of rows which were blocked off and reserved for the fighters of the stadium. Two special seats were reserved for the two princesses of the stadium.
In one seat was a rather cheery woman. Her long, golden locks went past her waist. When she smiled, she smiled radiantly. Her light blue eyes sparkled as she watched the match with enthusiasm. Often, she would pick at her rose pink dress, trying to get rid of the creases on it. Sitting next to her was a younger woman. This elfin maiden had locks of dark gold which were held together by a braid at the end of her locks. Her soft azure eyes gleamed softly as she viewed the match. She nervously played around with her white gloves as she continued to watch the entire match.
“This is exciting, don’t you think, Zelda?” asked the first princess.
“It’s quite a match, that’s for certain, Peach,” Zelda replied.
“Who do you think is going to win?” Peach asked.
“I don’t know…but…I am…rooting for Miss Samus to win. Though…Lord Ike sure is a fighter.”
“You know what? Let’s make a wager! If Ike wins…you have to tell me who you like. But if Samus wins…I’ll tell you who I like!”
“Peach…” Zelda exasperated. “First off…I’m not fond of wagers. Second of all…I know who you like…Mario. So you have to come up with a better prize.”
“Oh…okay. Um…let’s see…how about…I make a romantic dinner for two. You…and your crush!”
“That still makes you the winner.”
Out on the stadium were two warriors. One was a young man with unruly, spiky cerulean hair which seemed to be held together by a long, dark green headband. Though sweat was seaming through his forehead, he couldn’t relax…not for one moment. His leather boots clapped against the ground as the metallic part of them would touch lightly. His crimson cape flowed with the wind as he ran over to his opponent. His cobalt eyes were dead locked on the woman in metallic armor who stood in front of him.
The second opponent was an adult woman wearing a suit of strong, yellow, red, and orange metallic armor. Upon her right arm was what appeared to be her gun. She glared with her soft emerald eyes at the blue haired man through her green visor. She analyzed his moments, not wanting to do a fatal mistake. Though her opponent used primitive tools such as a broadsword, he was formidable warrior with inhuman strength to match. She was somewhat glad her long, blond hair wouldn’t get in the way as she jumped off the ground and curled into a ball.
From her suit of armor, small spherical balls would come out from her body and explode on the ground after a certain amount of time. The young man tried his best to dodge the explosives, but was not agile enough to dodge. The young man took damage. This allowed the armored woman to flip in the air and kick him square on the face. The young man fly through the air and landed on the ground. As he quickly recovered, he notice that the armored woman was heading his way.
Behind the young man, a bob-omb appeared. In one swift movement, the young man hurled it at the woman. The blond fighter’s eyes widen as she saw the bomb coming her way. The explosive made contact with her body, causing her to fly off the stage. At that moment the announcer spoke on the intercom. “This game’s winner is…Ike!” The young man with blue hair, named Ike, smiled as the crowd began to cheer for him. His opponent, Samus, clapped for him as he did his victory pose.
From the stands, the other fighters were either cheering or jeering at the victory. Zelda looked in shock as she saw Samus lose that battle. She slowly looked over at Peach. Peach was staring at the princess with mischievous eyes. She knew she won that battle and wasn’t going to let Zelda go until she told her who she liked.
“Alright then, Zelda,” Peach said. “Now you’re going to tell me who you like.”
“Peach…why are you so interested in my love life?” Zelda asked.
“Easy…you sigh…and you swoon so often. You must be in love. Now I need to know…who is it that you are infatuated with. Please, tell me.”
“Peach….I…alright…I’ll tell you. I…am infatuated with…”
Ike and Samus were both transported back to the stadium’s transport room. Inside, a young man with fiery, unruly spiky hair sat at the controls. His stands of hair were held tightly with a blue and gold headband. “Looks like that was quite a match,” the young red head spoke. “Glad to see that you guys made it out fine.”
“Thanks, Roy,” Ike said as he smiled at him.
“Yeah…” was Samus’ reply before she walked out of the room. As Samus walked out from the control room, a young man brushed passed her going into the control room. His soft blue eyes landed on her figure then reverted back to the figures of Ike and Roy. His soft, short blue hair brushed lightly against his pale skin. Upon his head was a golden tiara with a ruby stuck in the middle. He smiled lightly as he placed a gloved hand on his chest.
“Is something wrong with Samus?” he asked softly.
“No…Miss Samus seems to be just herself,” Roy replied. “Though, I really can’t tell when she is in a good mood or not. Either way…I’m ready to close the control room here unless someone announced a match at the last minute.”
“Oh…no,” Marth replied. “No…I’m not here to tell you that there’s another match or anything. I’m just here to show Ike around the place since he’s new here.”
“Sounds great,” Roy responded. “You guys go and have fun. I’ll join up with you once I close up here.”
“You sure you don’t want us to wait for you?” Ike asked. “After all…I still feel somewhat bad for replacing you.”
“Not really…” Roy commented. “I’m still here as the control guy, but if you recall, I was taken off since I was heavily injured. Though I no longer am in a cast, Dr. Mario says I’m still not fit to fight for a while. So instead, I’m here working. It’s not so bad…really. Still, I appreciate your concern, Lord Ike.”
“Your Lordship…” Ike replied.
“Call me Roy.”
“I’ll call you Roy once you call me Ike…and JUST Ike.”
“Alright then…Ike,” Roy said.
“We’ll meet up with you later, Roy.” Marth responded as he tugged on Ike’s tunic.
“See you later…Marth and Ike,” Roy said.
“Good bye, Roy,” Ike said as he left with Marth.
As Marth and Ike walked down the hallway, another pair was walking in the opposite direction. As Marth gave a tour or the place, a young anthro pair were busy discussing what to do for training. One figure was a slender, anthropomorphic vulpine. His soft fur was a light honey color which shimmer lightly in the sunny afternoon. Down his forehead was a large, white stripe which matched his white muzzle. As he talked in his tender voice, his teal colored orbs glowed brightly. Walking next to him was a taller and slightly larger bird companion. His dark blue feathers somewhat complimented the red rings around his cobalt eyes. As he walked, his tail feathers shook lightly. Both anthros wore the same type of attire, except that the fox wore green while the falcon wore red.
“I’m telling you…” said the fox youth. “…with these new additions, they could be tough.”
“Feh…fighting them would be a piece of cake,” replied the falcon. “You should be worried about your own hide when you go up against Wolf though, Fox. I tell ya…that bitch has always something against you.”
“I know…but don’t worry about me, Falco,” Fox replied. “I can handle myself pretty…ooof!”
At that moment, Fox had bumped into a brick wall. As he shook off his dizziness, Fox would soon realize that he didn’t bump into a brick wall, but rather a dumbfounded Ike. “Oh…I’m sorry,” Fox spoke, “I didn’t mean to bump into you…um…Ike, right?” Ike didn’t respond. Instead, Ike kneeled down before Fox, placed a strong hand against Fox’ neck, and touched his fur lightly. Fox let out a blush as he felt rough fingers against his sensitive fur.
However, at that moment, Ike pinched the back of Fox’ neck. Fox yelped as he curled into a ball as he was lifted off the ground by Ike. Both Marth and Falco were surprise that the blue haired mercenary could carry Fox by just picking him up by his neck fur. Ike examined Fox for a moment as if trying to figure something out. “This fox…” Ike said. “How…can he talk? Not to mention…he’s got clothing on.”
“Excuse me!” Fox hissed as he tried to break free from Ike’s grasps. “I am NOT just some fox. I happen to have a name. And what you’re doing to me hurts and its degrading!”
“Oh!” Ike let out as he dropped Fox. “I…I’m sorry. I didn’t know…you’d get…”
“Offended?!” Fox let out a he got on his two hind paws. “Let me tell you something…I am NOT one of those animals you talk about. In fact…calling us animals is an insult to us…human.”
It was Ike’s turn to get offended at this point. “Listen…I’m sorry I did that to you,” he said. “But calling me a human is an insult to me as it is calling you an animal. I’m a Beorc.”
“Fine…I heard you.” Fox crossed his arms, still somewhat angered at Ike. More importantly, still felt sharp pain in the back of his neck. Ike shuffled his feet lightly as he tried his best to apologize to Fox.
“Listen…I said I was sorry,” Ike spoke. “I don’t know how I can make this up to you. But if you don’t accept my apology…then I’ll continue saying I’m sorry until you do.”
The vulpine youth let out a soft sigh. For some reason, he couldn’t stay mad at Ike. Mostly since it appears to be that the mercenary lord seems to be quite naive or ignorant, whichever of the two. Fox uncrossed his arms and smiled softly at Ike. “Alright…” he said in a tender voice, “I accept your apology…and I’m sorry for offending you. I shouldn’t have been so hasty.”
“That’s okay!” Ike responded as he patted Fox’ back roughly.
“Ow…” Fox let out softly. “Um…I don’t think we properly introduced ourselves. My name is Fox McCloud…what’s yours?”
“Oh, my name is Ike,” Ike responded.
“No last name?”
“Well…you see…in my hometown…we have no need for last names. Mostly since, it wouldn’t matter around the common folk. But I suppose if someone where to tell me apart from another Ike…then they would call me Greilson, basically since I’m Greil’s son. So…I suppose my full name might be Ike Greilson.” *
“Ah…I see. Interesting.”
“So…you’re name actually IS Fox,” Ike said.
“Yeah…it is. It’s pretty much like you hum…I mean Beorc would name a boy, Guy.”
“Oh! It seems you two are getting along now,” Marth squeaked. “Though…I would have to say that if I am to finish your tour, we should go now, Ike. It will be dinner time and Peach would not like it if we’re late.”
“Yeah…I know.” Ike turned his attention back at Fox. “I’ll see you later then, Fox. Nice talking to you.”
“You too…Ike,” Fox responded.
Marth tugged on Ike’s cape and lead him off towards the dormitories to show him around which wing belongs to who. Meanwhile, Fox kept his soft teal eyes at Ike’s figure until he disappeared into the corner. Falco leaned against the wall, with his arms crossed waiting for Fox to even notice that he’s there. “Yo…” Falco said. “I know he’s probably a hot piece of ass for you, but we need to get going if we’re to train before dinner.”
“Hmm? What?” Fox let out. However, reality hit the young fox anthro. “Falco! That’s disgusting! First off…I am NOT that way. Second of all, Ike probably has a girlfriend already. Third of all I have…well, I HAD a girlfriend.”
“Right…if you call someone who backstabbed you and joined your rivaled team a ‘girlfriend’.”
“…don’t talk about Krystal that way,” Fox said in a dark tone. “She…she made me happy.”
“And she hurt you…far worse than anyone I’ve seen do that,” Falco said. “Fox…I thought you were over her by now. She left you months ago. We’re here to get you some fresh air and to clear your mind. That’s why we’re NOT going back to Corneria for a while until you realize that you, Fox McCloud, can live without her. So stop moping and remember what kind of a leader are you.” Falco placed his wings on Fox as he spoke with him, trying to get Fox to realize a lot of things.
Fox, on the other hand, folded back his ears. “Yeah…” was all he could reply.
“At least try…” Falco said. “If not for you…at least for your friends.”
“Alright, Falco…” Fox said. “I’ll try…for you and the others.”
“Great…now let’s continue with our training session.”
“Fine…”
Elsewhere, Princess Zelda was trying her best to lose Peach. Ever since she told her whom she admired more than a friend, the older princess was trying to doll her up, in hopes of impressing her crush. “I have to lose her,” she said. “If she continues this…I’ll be old and decrepit. Oh…” Outside, in the garden were two young man whom were sitting under the nearby apple tree. One was a elfin youth with pierced long ears. His strawberry blond hair were parted to one side and connected to his long bobs. When he smiled at the princess, his blue eyes sparkled. His olive green tunic almost camouflaged with the soft grass the tree was in.
Sitting in one of the tree branches was a younger teen. His hair was spiky chestnut brown and was held together by a golden laurel wreath. His azure eyes only sprouted out innocence and kindness. His angelic feathers were described by his knee length toga, black shorts, and brown, strapped sandals. Upon his back, a pair of snowy white wings perched nicely. The tiny angel saw the princess and waved to her.
“Hello, Princess Zelda,” said the tiny angel.
“Hi, Your Highness,” spoke the elfin youth.
“Good afternoon, Link and Pit,” was Zelda’s response.
“Is something the matter, princess?” Link asked as he got of from the ground.
“No…yes…quite possibly there is. And please…for the last time, Link…don’t call me princess. We’re friends and same thing goes to you too, Pit. It would make me happy…if you two would just call me Zelda.”
“But princess…” Link and Pit responded at the same time.
“Please…”
“…Alright…I promise, Zelda,” Link said.
“I promise too, Zelda-icus!” Pit said.
“Thank you…both,” Zelda said.
“Now…tell me what’s bothering you,” Link said.
“Oh…it’s quite a long tale,” said the princess.
“I have all day.”
“Well…it started off like this. Peach and I made a wager. If Ike were to win today’s match I’d tell her who I admire. If Samus won, she would…oh dear…I forgot what she would do in return. The final thing was…that Ike won so I told her who I am infatuated with and now she won’t leave me alone until tell this person that I like them.”
“Oh…that’s…quite annoying if I do say so myself,” Link responded. “What are you going to do about it?”
“Oh…I can’t avoid Peach forever…but I refuse to do what she told me to do. And that was invite my crush over to dinner…but a romantic one. Oh, I can’t do that.”
“Zelda…you don’t need to do anything you don’t want to do. If you think you’re not ready yet to express your feelings for someone…then…don’t do it,” Link said as he held Zelda’s hand. “But I’m sure if you told this person…they probably might like you back.”
“Really?”
“Of course, you’re a nice person and anyone would fall for you. Isn’t that right, Pit?”
“Sure it is!” Pit agreed as he jumped from the branch and landed on his feet gracefully. “Princess Zelda is a nice person. Almost as nice as Palutena.”
“So…don’t be afraid of showing your feelings for someone you care about,” Link said as he smiled warmly.
“Alright…thanks for making me feel better, Link.”
“No problem. Anyway…I was showing Pit around the stadium…then we just stopped here and relaxed. The apple tree is really nice here.”
“Yeah…I know.”
At that moment, a wondering little yellow rodent came by. His dainty little paws pattered about on the stone ground. His dark, chocolate colored eyes were locked upon a large, red delicious apple. He wagged his tail as he climbed the tree and perched himself on one of the branches. He started to nibble on the apple before he began to take giant chunks of it into his mouth.
“Pikachu…where are you?” came a voice from the insides. Walking outside, Samus arrived at the garden. She was no longer in her power suit, but in her Zero Suit. Her Zero Suit was a skin tight, light blue suit which showed every curve of perfection on her body. She walked over to the apple tree and smiled softly, if one could call that a smile, at Pikachu. “There you are…” she said. “I’ve been looking for you.”
“Pika!” Pikachu let out as he jumped from the branch and landed in Samus’ arms. “Pi Pikachu!” Pikachu snuggled her as she snuggled him back.
“Having fun?”
“Pika!”
“That’s good! Glad to see that you’re doing okay.”
“Good afternoon, Samus,” Zelda said as she bowed her head at the bounty hunter.
“Good afternoon, Zelda,” Samus responded as she bowed her head slightly back at the princess.
Zelda stared at Samus with a slight blush on her face. She wasn't too sure what to say to her. She was just amazed at how beautiful she looked. Link looked at Samus then looked at Zelda. He noticed that the princess was blushing at the sight of the bounty hunter. Slowly, Link placed the pieces and nodded to himself. He took a hold of Pit's hand and carried Pikachu with the other. “We have to go,” Link said. “We have other plans. So we'll see you later!”
“But...we don't have to...” Pit protested, but was dragged away by the older teen.
Samus looked over at Link as he disappeared with Pikachu and Pit. She then turned her attention back to the princess who slowly looked back at her. The both of them stared at each other. No one said a word and no one tried to do anything. Zelda wanted to break the ice, but a part of her couldn't allow it. She searched deep inside for any sort of words she could tell the bounty hunter. “Um...” Zelda said softly.
“I should be going now,” Samus said. “I have to go training.” With that in mind, Samus left Zelda in the garden. Zelda shivered lightly as she let out a soft sigh.
“I am never going to tell her how I feel, am I?” she asked herself.
Elsewhere, a young, boisterous, blue anthropomorphic hedgehog had been walking through the dormitories' hallway. He was told not to run inside, which made him feel somewhat cooped up. His red sneakers touched the dark green carpet lightly as his white gloved paws touched the cherry wood walls. He was rather bored and was wanting to do something. “Man...this place is so boring when there isn't much to do,” he said to himself. “I've already taken a tour...twice, ate with everyone, watched the welcoming video, and fought in a match. I wish they had a large and vast area I could run in...oh!”
At that moment, Sonic looked over at the corner. Standing in the hallway, was a anthropomorphic male wolf who had gray fur. He was slightly taller than Sonic and rather more muscular than the blue hedgehog. The wolf's one violet-red eye kept lingering at the walls, admiring the details on them. The blue hedgehog cocked his head in confusion. “Haven't seen this guy before...” he said softly, “Oh! Maybe I can ask him to spar with me or do something fun!” The tiny hedgehog rushed over to the wolf. The wolf looked over as he now saw a blue spot in front of him. He stood silent as he looked at the hedgehog. He snorted as he walked around him and continued to walk.
“H-Hey!” Sonic let out as he ran in front of the wolf. “Where are you going? I was wondering if you wanted to...”
“Out of my sight...” the wolf replied in a harsh tone.
“Why? You have things to do or something?”
“Don't...bother me, kid.”
Sonic puffed up his chest as he felt slightly insulted. “Hey! I'm not a kid!” Sonic shouted. “I'm fifteen years old! I'm Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest thing alive!”
“You're going to be the fastest thing that's dead if you don't quit bothering me,” the wolf snarled.
“Aww...is the wolfie mad?” Sonic said in a cocky tone.
The wolf didn't take ti lightly. He snapped at Sonic. Sonic was able to jump away from him, however, it only angered the wolf even more. The wolf snarled as he clawed at the blue hedgehog. Sonic barely missed the sharp claws as they would have scratched his stomach.
“Yipe!” Sonic let out as he turned the corner and ran down the hallway. A white spark barely missed Sonic's head as it zipped passed his pointy ears. “Whoa!” Sonic turned around to see the wolf shooting at him with his blaster. “This can't be good!” Sonic shouted as he dodged another laser. “I gotta find someone to help me!”
Walking around the hallways, Link has been busy chatting away with Pit. The two youths had been trying to kill some time before their big match tomorrow in the afternoon. At that moment, Sonic jumped on Link and climbed up his back. “You have to help me!!” Sonic let out as he looked over Link's shoulder.
“What the?” Link let out as he looked over at the hallway. Running at full speed is a rather agitated Wolf O'Donnell. His snarls and growls seem to come with the salivas which dropped from his jaws.
“Out of the way, Elf!” Wolf snarled. “That hedgebrat is mine!”
“Hold on a moment, Wolf!” Link let out as he backed away from Wolf, trying to keep him away from Sonic. “I can't let you hurt Sonic.”
“If you don't get out of my way...you'll suffer greatly!”
“Sorry...but I refuse to let you have it your way,” Link commented. “I can’t let you hurt Sonic.”
“Alright then…” Wolf snarled. “I really didn’t have to do this…but now you’ll suffer greatly…” Wolf pulled back his claws and sent them flying towards Link. Link closed his eyes as he was willing to take the blow for Sonic. However, he noticed that nothing seemed to hit him. Link opened one eye to see what happened. He quickly opened the other as he saw the scene before him.
In front of Link, Pit, and Sonic was Wolf laying on the ground. His claws were tied together on his back. Sitting on top of the wolf anthro was a young male who’s face was covered by a face mask. His stands of blond hair stuck out from his turban. His ruby colored eyes were bland as he looked up at Link. “Oy…Link,” he said softly, “it seems I saved you this time.”
“Sheik!” Link let out. “Uh…thanks.”
“You go on ahead with those two…I’ll calm this boy down,” Sheik responded.
“‘Boy’?!” Wolf snarled as he tried to push the young Sheikah off from him.
“Get going…now!” Sheik demanded.
Without another a moment to lose, Link carried Sonic away with Pit hot on his heels. The trio left the hallways. Sheik looked down at the snarling Wolf underneath him.
“Shh….” Sheik whispered, “calm down…”
“You have five seconds to let me go!” Wolf demanded.
“Only if you promise to behave,” Sheik chided.
“Let go! I don’t make promises!”
“Then I won’t let you go…no matter how much you struggle.”
“When I break free…I’ll kill you!” Wolf growled as he struggled to break free. He managed to jump slightly, trying to pushes Sheik off. However Sheik had him down with all his strength.
“Be nice…” Sheik said in a giggly manner.
“I don’t do nice! I never am nice! The day Wolf O’Donnell is nice hell will freeze over!”
“Oh really?” Sheik responded. “If I recall…a certain wolf being nice enough to help his rival save their galaxy. Correct me if I’m wrong…but I think that is a noble deed.”
“Gah! That was only once! Even so…its not like I like the guy. I had much bigger fish to fry and our goals were coincidentally colliding.”
“Even so…I think that was quite noble of you,” Sheik commented.
“Quite trying to get this image of me…”
Sheik just sighed as he rolled his eyes. “Alright…whatever you say, Wolf,” Sheik said as he slowly released his hold of Wolf. Wolf quickly got to his feet and turned around to glare at Sheik. Though half of his face was covered, one could tell when Sheik was smiling if they looked hard enough. Wolf’s scowl slowly diminished as he turned around to leave. He didn’t bother to say anything more to Sheik.
“Consider this an act of mercy from me,” Wolf said without looking at Sheik, “next time…you’ll regret doing that.”
“To tell you the truth,” Sheik said, “I don’t regret that.”
Wolf didn’t want to respond to that one. He already set his mind into letting Sheik go with a warning, he didn’t want to go back on his word. Wolf grunted slightly as he walked off. Sheik shook his head before he disappeared towards the forest area.
As Sheik and Wolf had been busy talking, Link walked off towards safety. He arrived at the garden with the small hedgehog and angel. “Phew…I think we’re far away from him now,” Link said.
“I hope so…” Pit commented, “he didn’t seem to be in a good mood.”
“Heh…you’re very lucky, Sonic,” Link said in a playful tone.
“Hey!” Sonic pouted. “I could have handled him.”
“Oh really?” Link joked. “Who was the one who started to call for help when Wolf started to use his blaster?”
“Not funny…” Sonic replied.
Link and Pit just laughed at the hedgehog’s reply. At first, Sonic only fumed at his friends’ reactions, though after a couple of minutes, Sonic joined in on their laughter. Once the laughter died down, Pit looked over at the sky. “Hmm…it must be the late afternoon,” he said, “I should leave now. I promised to help Peach with tea and cookies today. I’ll see you guys later! Bye!” Pit waved at Link and Sonic as they replied back to their friend once they were alone, Link slowly placed Sonic on the ground.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Link said, “though for a moment there I was worried about what Wolf would have done to me.”
Sonic looked at Link and smiled, “You want to know something?” he asked.
“What?”
“No one has ever stood up to me like that…that was quite cool of you.”
“I couldn’t let him hurt a someone as small as you.”
“Hey! Are you calling me a shrimp? You know…just because I’m shorter than him doesn’t mean I’m weaker than he is! I can take perfectly care of myself!” Sonic pouted as he crossed his arms.
“Oh! I didn’t mean to offend!” Link let out. “Just that…I didn’t mean for it to sound like you were weaker…just that…he’s just a savage fighter. You have self control and sympathy for others…Wolf…doesn’t seem to care about others’ well being. So I was concerned that he would have….though I shouldn’t judge anyone,” Link responded as he looked at the ground.
“I…it’s alright,” Sonic responded, “I’m glad…you stepped in.” Link looked back at Sonic. His soft blue eyes showed so much innocence and friendliness. Sonic smiled as he looked at Link. Sonic’s emerald eyes were locked onto Link’s sapphire orbs. The blue hedgehog couldn’t help but blush at how beautiful the Hylian looked at the moment. Seconds turned into minutes and yet not one of them would want to break away this spell that was happening.
“I should get going…” Link broke the silence.
“You really have to go?” Sonic asked.
“N-not really…but…I…”
“Tea time!!” Shouted Peach as she arrived with a plate of cookies. Walking behind her was Pit holding a plate which carried a nicely made cake. Besides the small angel was a rather flustered Marth. Link took noticed at how Marth seemed to be acting around Pit, so he approached his friend, whispering in his ear. Marth whispered back a “I’ll tell you later” to Link before he set down the tray which had the tea and some of the cups.
In another part of the mansion, Fox and Falco had been busy training. Both men were on the Halberd, dodging several of its hazards. Lasers were flying at each other, fists were connecting against rough fur or feathers, and kicks were landing in beautifully. After an hour or so of intense training, Fox and Falco were taking a small break. On command from Falco’s voice, the Halberd vanished, leaving the two men in a strange, mechanical type room.
“It’s bizarre,” Fox said as he took off his jacket and shirt, “how these simulators do a good job at capturing the real things.”
“I know,” Falco responded as he also took off his jacket and shirt. “Sometimes you have to wonder at who actually was stupid to go to these places to get their exact measurements and such.”
“Don’t know…but when you think about it…it’s kinda of creepy…”
At that moment, the door to the training room opened. In stepped in Ike and Roy. Both men were armed with their swords and ready. “Hey…I didn’t know someone was here,” Ike said, “usually these doors would be locked.”
“Eh…we keep them open in case anyone else wants to join,” Falco replied, “we’re not picky like other Smashers who want their privacy.”
“Ah…I see.”
“Hmm?” Fox let out as he eyed Roy. “Whatcha doing here, Roy?”
“Oh…!” Roy responded as he somewhat nervously gripped his sword, “Um…well…you see I do very light training. Even though my injuries are slowly recovering, I still need to keep in shape. Ike was going to train with me.”
Fox looked at Ike and then at Roy. A man of Ike’s stature would end up killing a poor boy like Roy, Fox thought. I seriously think Roy should consider getting a different partner…
“Um…Roy?” Fox asked nervously, “are you sure you should get Ike as your partner?”
“What’s wrong with me?” Ike asked curiously.
“Nothing…nothing…just that,” the young fox anthro tried to think of words to say to Ike which wouldn’t involve hurting his feelings or telling him something he would regret, “well…I mean Roy is barely recovering from his injuries…and well I am not too sure that he should…be training with a man of your…stature and strength…”
Roy and Ike looked at Fox. “Are you saying I’m going to hurt Roy?” Ike asked. “Listen, I may be a strong fighter here but I know when to hold my strength back. I appreciate your concern over him, but you should be concern more about yourself.”
“Huh? What’s that suppose to mean?” Fox asked as got up from the floor.
“Just saying a little guy like you should be careful against strong fighters such as myself.”
Fox let out a small growl when he heard that comment. “Are you implying that I’m weak?”
“No…just…slightly frail…” Ike responded, “sometimes I’m afraid to even hit you since I often am afraid I’ll break you or something.”
“That’s not funny!” Fox growled, completely offended. “Listen here, Ike…I may be smaller and less built than you, but that doesn’t mean you should underestimate me thinking that I’m weak! You don’t need full blown strength to win fights! It’s all about skill and speed here! You may be strong, but I can assure you that you won’t land a single hit on me since I’ll be running circles around you!”
“Calm down…” Ike said as he tried to back away from the agitated Fox.
“Calm down?!” Fox snarled as he started to back Ike up against the corner. “I will NOT calm down! You will have to train with me now, Ike! And I’ll show you what’s it like to fight against me!”
Ike was speechless. He wasn’t sure how to respond to an angry Fox. One thing was for sure, he had to comply to the kitsune’s demands. Falco winced slightly from the screams Fox was doing. He grabbed Roy and pushed him out of the training room. “H-hey!” Roy said, “what are you doing, Falco? I…I came to train!”
“Sorry, but your training session is postponed until this is settled,” Falco added in, “I’ll train with ya if you like.”
“But…but…” Roy was pushed out of the training room by Falco. The blue bird closed the training room, leaving Ike to face Fox’ fiery assault.
In the training room, Fox and Ike were trying to settle down their differences and by that, that would mean Fox is trying his best to kill Ike while Ike was doing his best to avoid Fox. The room started to change. As Ike moved back away from Fox, he felt the floor underneath him collapse. He looked down to see the endless abyss underneath him. Both him and Fox were now in the cosmos known as Final Destination. Who picked this stage? Ike thought as he slowly looked over at Fox. A laser zipped by the swordsman, barely missing his nose by inches.
From the other side of the stage, Fox was waiting for him. He aimed with his blaster and shot away at the human mercenary. Ike did his best to dodge the lasers, but some were rather hard for him to avoid. Ike knew the only way for him to avoid getting more damage was to go to the source of the problem. He rushed over to where Fox was and swung his sword. Fox stopped shooting once Ike was within arms length of him. He placed his gun on his holster, ducked the swing from the Ragnell and delivered swift kicks to Ike’s stomach.
Ike grunted from the kicks, but they weren’t enough to do any heavy damage to him. Instead, Ike grabbed Fox by his bandana and head-butted him several times. Fox grunted as each head-butt was swift and hard. Fox could have sworn he just lost a couple of brain cells due to Ike’s heavy hitting. Once he was satisfied, Ike threw Fox away from him.
Fox recuperated from the throw, backflipped on the ground, then using momentum from the throw, he pushed himself off from the ground and kicked Ike in the jaw. Ike was sent flying back, however, he quickly got up from his feet. He rubbed his chin then dashed over to attack the fox. The two mercenaries were locked in battle. Neither of them giving up to one another. Fox was able to dodge most of Ike’s attacks, however, the ones that did connect gave Fox more of a reason to regret taking on Ike by himself. Even though most of Fox’ attacks were light, since he could deliver several of them at a time, the light hits were soon turning into barrages of blows. Ike grunted as he now started to feel the after effects of the kicks.
I gotta do something, Fox thought, if I continue with this, he’s going to win for sure. I need to think of something…fast! Fox tried to think up of something he could do in order to win against Ike. Time was running out for him as Ike came towards him. Think, Fox…think! Fox thought as he tried to think of some way to avoid getting killed by Ike. However, it was too late. Ike managed to swing the Ragnell with enough force to knock Fox off from his hind paws and onto the floor.
“Gh…ow…” Fox hissed as he felt that one for sure.
“I’m sorry…” Ike responded as he approached Fox. “I didn’t mean…”
“That’s enough…” Fox responded as he sat up on the ground. The look of disappointment was all over his face.
“But…”
“Just leave me alone, Ike!” Fox got up from the ground and started to walk towards the door. The room changed back to its original state. Before Fox could put a paw on the door, he fainted. Ike quickly rushed over to the smaller kitsune and picked him up bridal style.
“Sorry…but I gotta take you to some help…you’re injured…” Ike said softly as he exited the room, carrying Fox in his arms.
Yays! I finished the first of three parts to this fic! I hope this one turned out okay and didn’t creepy anyone out.
