Barika was once warlord Garaar's mate and second in command, she has led the lions of her Dawn brigade in a number of battles against the independant lion tribes to add their numbers to Garaar's ever growing army. She is every bit as ruthless as her husband sharing his belief that the lions belong on top and as such anyone who did not fall in line and joined Garaar's forces or accept his rule would be considered food and brutally murdered.

She was well respected and feared by many as a result and even more so when she became Garaar's mate, however all this changed after the battle for Drum Town...

She was captured alive along with a few of her brigade members at the end of the battle and put on trial with them by the people of Drum Town. They were all sentenced to serve the community to attone for their crimes which resulted in most of the lionesses taking their own lives rather than be ruled by prey, however Barika was released and sent back to Garaar at Rwanda's suggestion as a minor peace offering by sparing his mate this humiliation and as such make him less likely to attack Drum Town again in the immediate future.

Barika thought she would be welcomed back by Garaar and she would soon after have her revenge thinking she would get to lead the next attack on Drum Town. How wrong she was. She instead faced Garaar's wrath for showing weakness and allowing herself to be captured by the prey, so she and the few stragglers of her brigade that she picked up along the way were all marched out into the plains to be cast out. However Garaar would not let them have that last dignity and ordered them all killed, personally shooting his former mate in the head and leaving them all for dead in some ancient trenches.

Fortunately for Barika the scene was witnessed by a group of the nomadic healers who came to her aid, thinking the lions who were shot to be from one of the still free lion tribes. Had they known who she was they probably might have thought twice about helping despite their oaths... They managed to save her life and even managed to remove the bullet from her brain thanks to their knowledge of old world surgery, however it left her nearly blind in one eye and cause some occasional trembling in her left arm. She woke up out of a coma months later and after recovering some more she repaid her rescuers by murdering them all in their sleep to keep her survival a secret, or so she thought at least as some rumors had gotten out resulting in many a bounty hunter and revenge seekers coming after her.

Can this battle hardened former queen survive alone in a world where near everyone wants her dead, and where will her path take her, revenge, redemption, survival, or will the world finally take her down?
