Peppered here and there about the world, legends say, are statues of the Great Spirit of Nature. They’re not easy to find, and indeed, most who find them do so by accident, for each is to be found where only the most desperate to survive would chance upon them. But if you do come across one, so the legends claim, and rest beneath her wings, you’ll receive Nature’s blessing whilst you stay there, and no further harm will come to you. Some stories even go so far as to say that mortal wounds and grave illnesses will vanish overnight beneath the Spirit’s wings, with only the faintest of scars remaining; that hypothermia melts away; that even the rising tides cannot drown one safe beneath her warm shadow.

For Nature, it is said, favors the fighters."
