I like this idea where cursed transformed/transforming humans are given rehab to try to stave off the effects of the mind's regression into the animal's mind completely, but it doesn't always work, or even most of the time, and the psychiatrists are mostly trying to do what they can while patients become feral and finish transforming mentally. I imagine they administer cognitive and IQ tests too and they sometimes yield disappointing results. Occasionally there is a success story where the individual manages to revert back to being human again and reverse the curse. But sometimes it seems to be going well only for them to slip into think they are the animal and the more that line of thinking continues, the more they start to think like the animal. Once they lose language, they have slipped past the point of no return as the psychiatrist can no longer reach them to keep them from the descent into the being the animal fully.
Thank you! Actually, the way you've fleshed this out is very similar to how I was imagining things would progress. Though the nature of the curse and intent of the caster would have some bearing on the end result as well. I'm very pleased that you like the premise!
Aw . . .
I was actually hoping you'd comment that I was talking about how patients will tell doctors what they think the doctors want to hear, then I could make a joke that I was really talking about turning into sheep. Oh, well.
I'd never heard of boanthropy. Now that I know this thing exists, I am fascinated.
