I think one of the signs of a good writer is the ability to clearly and quickly get an idea or character across. To that end, I'm conducting an experiment. What follows is a one page story of Kate Coyle, which I believe tells you everything you need to know about the type of woman Kate is.
Comments are welcome, and if you're interested the rules are as follows.
The story cannot be longer than one page. In that page, you must establish everything that MUST be part of your character, no would likes or would be nices. This must be a story that if someone else were to try and write your character, this would give them the unbreakable rules of your character.
It takes a few minutes, and any responses or entries I'd love to see linked here. :)

Well, that last page was just to get across her dedication, though Lucy would be fine. :)
Kate's not really a gambler, she's a con artist, though she does know how. It gets across that she can pretty much run with anything and make it look effortless. She doesn't frequently go to casinos, but she knows how to play games of chance. :)

Thanks. :) *grins happily* I have pretty high standards for writing and film, as I figure that if I can do it, then I can critique and know what I'm talking about. :) I was watching the new Star Trek, and seeing the scene shown in the trailer when Kirk drives the car off the cliff. In not so many words, the scene tells you everything you need to know about Captain Kirk, and I was like, with a good character, you should be able to do that if you're a student of my writing school. :)
