This is my hippogryph character, Zoltan. He's being reverted to his not very nice person status for the sake of the comic. He's a race of critters called Mythicals who are the descendants of magically created sentients. (There are also uplifted beasts called Familiars, and of course Humans). Zoltan is a bit of a homeless bum with a violent streak. He takes odd muscle jobs to eat.
I'll probably color this but I wanted to show off the linework too. This is why it's good to try and learn to ink with a brush. You can get some really expressive lines with practice. I'm nowhere near a master yet myself, but every time I ink something like this I learn a little more.

Gen, may I say once again how talented you are? You mentioned before how much you like to draw avians, and it really shows through here. Plus, your sense of anatomy is very apparent with this piece--I'm still working on getting to that point.
I can see a wide variation in line weight here; I'm assuming that all comes from your use of a brush for inking. The fear I have with a brush is that my hand just isn't steady enough to come out with nice lines like this, and I'm so afraid of making mistakes that I can't erase (I see a bit of a smudge off of his cheek ruff there...). I'm sure a lot of practice would help me get over those fears, but I guess I'm just loving the WACOM tablet too much at this point. I think I've been spoiled.
Thanks again for posting your work for us to admire and learn from, Gen.
