I'm gald that i managed to get few days off at the beginning of May, because all the free time i had i spent on this pencil picture- it was taking so much time... I haven't done a proper pic like this for long time, so i wanted this to be as precise as i could.
And this might be my very first city picture for years, where there is admitted strong presence of detailed various anthro characters, in this case foxes, because as we know, they are more and more common urban species.
The city's style is once again inspired by Gdańsk, which was one of the most prominent cities of Hanseatic League.
Compare with this old one:

Well, it's just fictional city loosely based on Gdańsk/Danzig architecture. Ulica Mariacka/Frauengasse in Gdańsk looks like this:
https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulica.....riacka_012.jpg
Actually it was supposed to based on Lübeck first, but after some research of other nearby cities (Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund, Hamburg, Kiel) i found out that Gdańsk would be still the best for my desired effect. This church is a mixture of all medieval churches from those cities.
I think i have once told you that i like german cities and their old architecture, one of the reasons might the fact that not much of the survived especially in bigger cities.

The worst thing about german cities and WW2 wasn't actually the destruction itself but the times after war- it was time of raging modernism- the absolutly worst era in history of architecture and city development. Well, many cities in europe were destroyed in the course of history, and were rebuilded again, most of the time with buildings of its current era (remember- even baroque or classicism or gothic were modern architecture stadarts of its time), but post-war aestethics is the worst and eklig and abstoßend. In short, it ages horribly, it lacks details, it doesn't contrast well with old architecture. It doesn't help that many old town streets were widened just to fit more cars in it- the practice that has shown it's strong negative effects in less than 20 years!
Just look at the success of Dom-Römer-Viertel in Frankfurt/Main- so many people visit this place despite it's only a very small portion of the old town was rebuilded and only half of them are actual reconstructions!
And Quedlingburg and Mölln- well i generally know that smaller german cites survived the war in much better condition so they weren't my priorities. In case of Quedlingburg i find nearby Halberstadt a little bit more interesting- yes i know- one half destroyed but second half almost intact and with a little tram network inside!
