I barely post my stuff on this site anymore. Too busy, apathetic, preoccupied etc. Here is a study anyway. He's a rock greenling merman, and a recurring subject. The fish he's based on is a local species, and the prettiest wild fish I've seen here.

It is my protest to the abhorrent lack of fish or aquatic species tags on this site.

The colors and fins taken directly from the real fish. They are surprisingly vivid for cold water fish. They even have little spiky horns above their eyes like antennae. :D

It is terrible that there is nothing aquatic except cetaceans in the tags here. But I, for one, don't care enough to actually bring it to the attention of the administrators. :P

I shall have to look up this fish. It sounds interesting.

I have been missing you (aol has been a bitch about loading, as well).

But yes, this is a gorgeous piece. The way the swirling hair visually rhymes with the fins fringing the outflung arms and all the other fins and the serene look on the face are wonderful.
