Diving is amazing and this is a great picture, nice that it's not the typical setting surrounded by tropical fish and vibrant colours. Even diving in a featureless lake with hardly three feet of visual is fun. XD
Also, continuing thank yous for listing your materials and work time. Not nearly enough artists do that. ^..^

Oh yeah, and much agreement about the cold! When we snorkeled they had us wear full wetsuits with hoods and booties. We all had to run screaming into the water so that it didn't take us half an hour to daintily work our way into the water. I imagine it was lots of fun watching 30 6th graders screaming and flailing at the ocean in full wetsuits.
How is he wearing that flimsy little short suit and not freezing? The last time I dove off Catalina the water was 58 degrees. I wore a long sleeve suit with boots and a hood and I was still cold as ice! How those national geographic guys can dive under the polar icecaps, I will never know...
Absolutely amazing. I love it! Especially being a scuba wolf myself, ive been to catalina many times and this piece reminds me of all the best diving that island has to offer. Quite the crazy tiger though, id be in my drysuit, not a shortie! =) By the way... the tigers mask looks like a Neptune Space or raptor full face mask. is that the mask that you used for reference? Sorry, im kind of a scuba equipment geek, so im curious ^^;
The one I was using for reference was a Neptune Space mask : http://www.e-scuba.co.uk/acatalog/n.....pacemask06.jpg
This is beautifully-drawn, Kacey. It reminds me of some of Baroncoon's work, considering the scenario and scale of things. Are those huge fish, or is that tiger just tiny?
Regardless, fantastic job. The feeling of actually being underwater is really strong here.

From a distance, I honestly mistook this for a photograph. Up close is a real treat; being able to see the texture of the paper shows that this is 100% traditional media... even more impressive! I can't even fathom where to begin on painting the layers for these colors. Of course, what else could one expect from the talent and direction of a master painter? Absolutely gorgeous work, Kacey! Pictures like this belong in a museum or some sort of public display; it'd be a crime to veil such beauty.
The bubbles and the lighting on the diver give a very clear sense of depth and that he's definitely swimming amongst these enormous fishes. I actually felt this was a more fresh water area considering the rock formations and water clarity, but the creatures, the distance, and sheer depth of the water distinguish it more as a coastal scape. Then again, I've yet to do much diving, so my analysis may be flawed.
I also noticed you formed a triangular shape with the three golden fishes... is there any artistic meaning behind this arrangement? It seems significant considering the colors of the fishes you chose... just a curiosity from a simple cat! :D
Beautiful work! The amount of life you are able to breathe into your creations is astounding. I always feel inspired after viewing your art; thank you for sharing your talents with us! :3
