Another model I've been working on for quite some time. It's a Corsair, presumably on an aircraft carrier somewhere in the Pacific. (Background elements are a matte painting.)
The programs I used were Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, and a bit of Adobe Illustrator. I actually started work on the model nearly 2 years ago now, but there were many long segments of time in which I didn't look at the project at all. As a result, I have absolutely no idea how many hours I've actually put into this thing, but I'm sure it's fairly high.

Wow! The F4U was hands down one of my favorite planes from World War II! I thought she had the best lines and curves of any of the other carrier/Pacific aircraft...and I loved that the first squadrons to get assigned them almost got themselves killed b/ they were so unused to the agility of the airframe! But im done babbling, this came out great you can DEFINITELY see the time put into this model down to the rivets, literally. Great work!
by far one of my most favorite images thus far of any WWII aircraft. amazing and downright beautiful. despite how long it took you, the final is definately worth more than the wait. wonderful work, and congrats on finishing it!
next you should work on the SR-71 Blackbird! :P nah you deserve some rest after this one!

So cool! This reminds me actually...I have a 4-stroke RC Corsair in my shed somewhere in about 5 pieces which succumbed to exactly the same scenario as ShadowWeasel described above...the first time I flew it (after almost 9 months of building it; I created the airframe from scratch based on blueprints and photographs) I totally wasn't expecting it to be so agile and touchy on the controls...needless to say it ran foul of a hedge and kinda...broke...a little bit.
SO want to get it back up and running! This is awesome, brings back some fond memories of hours of construction in my shed, high as a kite on glue and paint fumes!
