Gregory Perkins Comes Clean:
Geelong, Victoria
Wednesday 15th May 2019
Today a press conference was called about Gregory Perkins. The reason it was called was not a reason that many of you would expect. Many thought Perkins, who has been controversial with his play on the field and also off field with personal comments on many occasions expected that the conference was being called to end Perkins career.
However, with nothing being straight forward in Perkins career neither was the press conference. With supporters thinking the backfur was about the be dumped from his third team the Geelong Generals. A revelation from Perkins himself shocked the media world and FAFL fans.
Gregory Perkins announced to the world that he was suffering from anger issues that stemmed from his previous club the Gold Coast Dragons. Perkins believed that Hester Petal was unfairly sacked and this led to animosity and anger on Perkins behalf. This quickly led to a breakdown between Perkins and the Gold Coast Dragons. The last straw for Perkins came after a scuffle between himself and Coach Bryan Shadowolf broke out in the lockers rooms. The Gold Coast Dragons would no longer tolerate his bad behaviour and traded him as soon as they possible could.
Perkins also admitted that he had found himself mixing with the wrong crowd once he was playing for the Adelaide Butcherbirds. These influences were from outside of the club and Perkins now has much regret over his comments (especially those he directed at other players) and his behaviour during these years. This behaviour led to him being unpopular on and off the field. Sadly, this did not help his anger issues and he decided to leave the club before being asked to leave by the Butcherbirds.
Perkins then went on to thank the Geelong Generals and in Particular CEO, Jack Knight for giving him a chance when no other clubs would. This decision has been a pivotal moment and turning point for Perkins. With the help of club Doctors and officials Perkins has realised that he needs professional help with working through and overcoming his anger and aggressions issues.
Perkins announced at the press conference that he would be entering a program to deal with his issues. This program offers anger management and sensitivity training. Perkins will continue to play whilst attending these programs and asks for support and understanding from players and fans alike.
Perkins sincerely apologised for his former actions and hopes he can move forward and better himself in the process.
The Geelong Generals will be playing against the Melbourne Hammerheads on Sunday Afternoon at Kardinia Park in Geelong.
Colin Traveston Interview:
Curtis Matheson has caught up with Fremantle’s Colin Traveston after his 8-goal performance against Brisbane which has put Traveston on the top of the Goalkicking Table.
Matheson: Welcome folks to another FAFL 360 Interview. Today, we have a special guest. He’s currently playing for the Fremantle Panthers and is making this season his top priority with his 8 goals in that game against the Brisbane Brumbies. Please welcome Colin Traveston, Full Forward for the team. Thank you for joining us, Colin.
Traveston: No problem. Pleasure.
Matheson: Now, you’ve been a shining star on the team. What were some of the struggles that you have to make in order to shine?
Traveston: Well, I certainly need to be not only a team player but also a player who’s willing to take risks for the team. Sure, I may not be perfect but it’s all about getting in and doing the impossible for the team. That’s what counts. Making sure you give your all in games and practice is key in being a star.
Matheson: That’s pretty admirable. I know your career is growing. Do you plan on being Fremantle for the duration of your career?
Traveston: I certainly would like to. I got to know the team on a personal level so it makes it hard for me to go to another team if the opportunity came for me to make a choice. For now, I’ll just focus on this season and see where the road leads me.
Matheson: I hear that your sister is playing in the UFFL, have you heard much from her?
Traveston: Nay, I haven’t been able to reach her since the calls out of the country are expensive but I hope she’s doing well over in the UFFL with Downriver.
Matheson: do you have any love interests?
Traveston: I do actually. A female cheetah that I’ve met in the off-season. We’ve been going out just before the start of this season.
Matheson: Oh, awesome. Happy to hear. How will you two adjust being apart on a weekly basis?
Traveston: Well, we’re still working that out but we still keep in contact in between my games and her job. It still needs to be worked out but so far, it has worked out being 5 weeks into the season.
Matheson: Certainly have to work the details on that. Back to your career, do you plan on winning the Grand Final before your retirement?
Traveston: Hell yeah! I hope to win at least two of them before my career takes a nosedive into retirement. I’ll work my hardest to get there, even if it leaves me getting injured during the final game in order to achieve that.
Matheson: Take it easy on that, I’m sure your lady friend won’t like that too much. Well, hope you can achieve that dream, Mr. Traveston.
Traveston: I’ll certainly try, thank you Mr. Matheson.
Matheson: There you have it, folks. Colin Traveston breaking news that he has a lady friend now. Tune in next time for another interview session with one of the players in the FAFL. Until then, take care and have a good night.
Fremantle will be playing East Sydney on Saturday Night at Perth Stadium in Perth.

Jimmy Newman Medal Nominee for this round:
Round 5: Namazzi Baker (Darwin Storm)
This week’s nominee from Darwin has been a gamechanger for the Storm who have gone from being bottom of the table to a team that could make the finals if they can keep their form up. She is the No. 1 Draft Pick in the 2019 FAFL Draft and she had 21 disposals, 11 marks and 1 tackle in the team’s 31 point win against Adelaide. She is of course Namazzi Baker and she is our Jimmy Newman Medal Nominee for Round 5.
Growing up as an orphan from Uganda, Somehow Namazzi ended up in an Australian Orphanage and would be adopted by a lesbian couple and their male friend to get past the adoption laws of the time. Growing up, Things would be somewhat rough but would also be somewhat good. The average suburban life. Well, As close as you could get with their unconventional family. After trying out Amateur Wrestling and winning Gold in her first tournament thanks to her size and strength, She would get a try out with her local football team. Despite an incident where Namazzi injured two players at the tryouts which would lead to her not being recruited that season. She would keep up her game and get picked up for the team. Since then, She has become one of the best up and coming players in the league thanks to her defensive skills. It’s no wonder that Darwin selected her Pick No. 1. Since being selected, She has repaid the faith and has been consistently one of Darwin’s top players from week to week.
We wish Namazzi the best for the rest of the season and we have a feeling that we’ll be seeing her much more from him in the future at Darwin.
