Dear Friends, as I said before, in 2019, I’m celebrating 25 years trying to be a cartoonist; 25 years since in 1994 when I had a weird dream that drove me to a world that, I knew it later, many call it Furry.
Over this 25 years, I’ve created more than 250 characters (true, although this number is an approach) in 8 different series. And here is the first one:

The Catinga Series (1994)
The Chaotic Family Chronicles.

A small family lives better; that has been an ideal since the problem of overpopulation affects our world. Unfortunately, nobody told them that before...
JF and his beautiful wife Elena are the "happy" parents of this charming family of 9 children. Living all kinds of adventures and misadventures, this weird family face life and the world between fights, and reconciliations, between health and illness, between happiness and sadness ... you know, all the chaos a typical family can face ... but multiplied by 9.
Based in the ideal of my own future family, The Catinga series features J.F. (as myself), the successful father of family (which I’ve never been); Elena, the beautiful wife (that I never had, but based on the woman I’ve always be in love, and who really exists) and mother; and their 9 children, by order: Elena, J.F. (junior), Daniel, Francisco, Mariana, Felicia, Ana and the little twins Fernando and Luisa.
I completed about 40 written episodes, featuring from how this couple met, going through several family stages and the arrival of each child… until the mother’s death. To be honest, I cancelled the series in 1999, when I realized this would never happen… and in fact… it never happened.
Some facts about this series:
- The Catinga series is the largest in characters number; around 180 different characters, since all those who participate, represent the members of my own family and closest friends. Most of my relatives do not know it, but I represented each and every one of them with an animal character.
- Although all my characters came from that dream I had, to make them I took something as base ... and as you can see, I based all my characters in Sonic the Hedgehog (in Tails, in fact) who I also met in 1994 when I bought my first video game from this blue hedgehog saga, still being my favorite video game character up to now.
- If you noticed, all the members of this chaotic family are from different species ... don't ask how this is possible ... (even when I have an explanation, but not the space to explain right now) ... this comes since that strange dream I had in 1994 where all these characters rised from.
- Even when the series was canceled since 1999, some of its characters are still used in other of my series. For example, JFET have had appear with Las Traviesas ...
- CATINGA doesn’t mean nothing and has no relation at all with the series; I’ve used this word since 1985 just as a personal Brand.

Amigos, como les había comentado, en 2019 cumplo 25 años tratando de ser dibujante; 25 años desde que en 1994 tuve un extraño sueño que me llevó a un mundo al que, luego supe, muchos le llaman Furry.
A lo largo de estos 25 años he hecho más de 250 personajes (no miento, aunque el número es aproximado) en 8 series. Y aquí les presento a la primera de ellas:

La Serie Catinga (de 1994)
“Crónicas de Una familia Caótica”

Dicen que la familia pequeña vive mejor; ese ha sido un ideal desde que el problema de la sobrepoblación aqueja a nuestro mundo. Desafortunadamente, nadie se los dijo a tiempo…
JF y su bella esposa Elena son los “felices” padres de una familia de 9 niños. Viviendo toda clase de aventuras y desventuras, esta singular familia enfrentan la vida y al mundo entre peleas, y reconciliaciones, entre la salud y la enfermedad, entre la alegría y la tristeza… en fin, todo el caos que una típica familia puede afrontar… pero multiplicado por 9.
Basada en lo que era el ideal de mi propia familia en el futuro, La serie Catinga; es protagonizada por J.F. (mi personificación), el exitoso padre de familia (que nunca he sido); Elena, la bella esposa (que nunca tuve, pero a su vez basada en la mujer que siempre he amado platónicamente, y que de hecho, sí existe); y sus 9 hijos, por orden: Elena, J.F. (junior), Daniel, Francisco, Mariana, Felicia, Ana y los gemelos Fernando y Luisa.
Escribí alrededor de 40 episodios de esta serie, relatando desde cómo se conoció esta pareja, pasando por varias etapas de la familia, la llegada de cada hijo…. Hasta la muerte de la mamá. Aunque la verdad, cancelé la serie en 1999 cuando me di cuenta que esto jamás sucedería… y en efecto…. jamás sucedió.
Hechos curiosos de esta serie:
- La serie Catinga es la más larga en extensión de personajes; alrededor de 180 diferentes personajes, pues todos los que participan representan a los miembros de mi familia y amigos más allegados. La mayoría de mis familiares no lo saben, represente a todos y cada uno de ellos con un personaje animal.
- Aunque todos mis personajes surgieron de un mismo sueño que tuve, para hacerlos me basé en algo… y como podrán notar, me basé en Sonic el Erizo (aunque más bien, y de hecho, me basé en Tails) al que también conocí en 1994 cuando compré mi primer video juego de este erizo azul convirtiéndose en mi personaje favorito hasta la fecha.
- Si se dan cuenta, todos los miembros de esta familia caótica son de especie diferente… no pregunten cómo es esto posible… (aunque sí tengo una explicación para esto, lo que no tengo es espacio para decirla)… esto viene desde ese extraño sueño que tuve en 1994 y que dio origen a estos personajes.
- Aunque la serie esta cancelada desde 1999, algunos de sus personajes los usé en otras de mis series. Actualmente, JFET aparece con Las Traviesas… por ejemplo.
- CATINGA no significa nada ni tiene que ver con la serie en absoluto, esta palabra la he utilizado desde 1985 como marca personal.
