In 2010 at the beginning of the Metigal Invasion, where an unknown enemy force invaded the Planet of Metigal a key strategic ally in the CDF due to its Iron Nickel and Uranium mines the CDF sent a front line force to aid in the planet's defence. In this force were the battleships Karl Dönitz, Gillard Fo'Pat, Mik Jo'Rem, William Fredrick Halsey Jr, William Hargood, and Jacques de Clerk along with carriers Ho'Nok, Xi'Hi'Kin, and Akagi along with escort and support ships. Needed to be landed relatively far out to sea the task force started making its way to allied waters after the ships were set up and ready for combat under the watch of the MADA and Navy Type 200 Transports. 2 hours after the defense group left back for Mai'No'Tia to bring more ships, the task force was attacked by 200 fighters and attackers (400 total) launched from orbit. The ensuing battle left multiple ships crippled and the flight deck of the Xi'Hi'Kin was knocked out forcing the pilots to land on the Ho'Nok and Akagi while the Fo'Pat Hargood, and Halsey all were heavily damaged. Limping their way to allied waters the ships spent the next few months under repair and refit to upgrade their AA capabilities. The most drastic change was the removal of the ballistic missiles in the bow to be replaced by 24 Mk.14 SAM Launchers along with the addition of 24 Mk.9 50mm Medium Flak Guns. As the Ballistic Missiles were removed the ships were reclassified as BBN. The refit was called the "Hill'Iam Gel'Trem Refit" as the Hill'Iam was the first ship to be built with the upgrade from the start.
