Second iteration of my Twokinds fan art journey. The following involves an exiled Basitin named Keith Keiser, and his loving Fox Keidran girl we only know as Laura. Propping their tired soles on a fence after an arduous but enjoyable walk, because why not?
Oh, and today (May 20th) just happens to be Paw Day. It’s a coincidence, really.

It feels as though Tom only used Laura to further the plot. I mean, the number of coincidences that occurred the moment Laura reentered the comic. Like, Trace just happens to get captured, Laura just happened to be carrying a locket with a mana stone needed to destroy the tower, and Laura HAPPENED to be the person to sacrifice themselves, die, get cremated, and reappear as a spirit all in the period of one arc???
And what was the payoff; Keith experiences a loss that he eventually carries on from, and we lose a character anyone barely got to know who, might I add, had to go through a whole mess of obstacles just to find Keith? Was killing off Laura even necessary? She could have survived the entire ordeal and just decided to stay friends with Keith and let him be with Natani. It's ridiculous to kill her off!
I haven't seen unnecessary killing off of minor characters like this since the Walking Dead. And please keep in mind I don't think Tom is a bad author because of this. He obviously knows how to create an exciting story with interesting characters. I just think it's disappointing that he went down this path and chose this ending for Laura.
