For off I been online since 1982 on my Commodore 64 with a 56k modem and been on the internet ever since but Im not the type to be on a trend center and been way behind on a lot of online medium from Facebook, Twitch and Twitter. And I feel like Im too late to join in and feel like maybe I should not do any but I've seen a lot of my fave artist from Red Silver and so on and cant interact with out logging in and so I wanted to ask should I join Twitter? Is it safe? and Should I care?

I personally enjoy Twitter. Easy to use, no fuss. Lots of good artists on there. I love using it for uploading WIPs and snippets of things Im thinking etc. Things that aren't really worthwhile to post on FA/DA etc. Of course finished pieces go up there. It has a much larger audience than FA/DA. Starting your network from your followers on FA/DA will be a great jump boost to get you rolling.
It's an awful place, pretty miserable, no good features, full of idiots in assholes, and there's basically nothing worth caring about there. The only reason to go to twitter is if you NEED access to the other people who use it, either for the wider market to to interact with somebody who refuses to use anything else.
Twitter is hit or miss. Mute specific words to keep political crap off your timeline and you should be good to go. Twitter honestly makes growing fanbase easier because if people retweet your stuff others will see it instead of having to go to peoples pages on here to see stuff or via search. People just have to share it and you can get interaction a lot easier. It makes socializing easy because its just a few clicks since everythings right there as you scroll.
Twitter is basically a cesspool of all the worst elements of humanity smooshed together in one giant clusterfuck.
It is a horrible waste of technology and is the reason for the decline of Western Civilization.

Actually, Jack Dorsey (the CEO) is intent on silencing any and all right-wing thought. Have you seen how many conservative voices that have been banned (censored) just for having a right-wing opinion on the platform? It's censorship there at its finest. Jack Dorsey is very much far left.
Dude, everyone can get banned on that site, regardless of their political leanings. They basically have a system that has no actual human oversight, so it's just an automatic reporting system that lacks nuance, and people abuse that. Someone saying "lol nigga" could be banned for hate speech, regardless of the context.
