Nnete is part of a research program studying the meerkats, she believes there may be some unnatural cause to their behavious and that perhaps they can be cured but mainly she wants to prove that they deserve to be protected to some degree despite their feral behaviour so she hopes her studies will yield some concrete evidence for either case.

Now typically the science foundation sends out larger teams to set up a secure research base, but Nnete insisted on a small team so as not to disturb the meerkat's behaviour too much. She was denied her request time and time again but thanks to another scientist with some influence (her father) she was allowed to conduct her research in a different location but on the condition she take a bodyguard along at least. Thus Tebogo was appointed as her only guardian. While they did not get along initially on how to run things they did become an effective team once Nnete agreed to let Tebogo run the camp's security her way after the honey bagder saved her life by fending off a meerkat attack while out in the field, while Tebogo has learned when to stand back while Nnete does her "science things" as tebogo calls it.

So far Nnete's researchs has provided some limited data that shows promising towards her theories, though whenever she tries to contact any of the other research teams to compare findings she has been met with dead silence which worries her a bit but she continues her work anyways for the time being. The real truth however is that the other teams aren't out there to research the meerkats but rather to wipe them out so they can claim the resources in the area, so naturally Nnete's actual research is startign to become a thorn in the side of the ones who are pulling the research society's strings on this.
