Self sacrifice without much thought is also a foolish act that means nothing in the end. For example, throwing yourself against a burglar without securing your family's safety is pointless since they will die anyway.
Also, in relationship, sacrificing yourself to a partner who may not share feelings back is awful because it leaves both of you in awkward position (they'll be a dick for saying no even if they honestly don't like you that way, and the sacrificer will feel stupid).
Not saying sacrificing is bad, just pointing out the problems, as we have stated there may be. She has no idea/doesn't feel like dating him, and should not be forced to accept him just because of "how nice" he is, even though he is genuine good guy.
Let's just say it's complicated, and both can sort things out.

I watched that Christmas episode for the first time last night. I can’t believe she rejected him. It’s cute that despite feeling awkward around her afterwards he still cares about her. I have a feeling they’ll save the whole relationship thing for either the last Season or 2nd the last Season.
